Vehicle description
I’m selling my 2004 Ford F-350 SuperDuty 4x4. This has the 6.0L diesel, extended cab, and an 8 foot bed. 160,000 miles on the truck. This engine has not been bulletproofed, it also hasn’t been modified at all (no tuner). I’m selling because I no longer need a tow rig, and I have a small trailer that I can use with my car.
The Good:
I’ve owned this about 4 years, and I’ve had it pretty well maintained. The turbo was replaced with a new unit around 150k miles. It has new rotors/brakes/shocks that are about the same age. I replaced the batteries (there are two) a few years ago as well.
I bought a Extang tonneau cover which is nice. You can remove it pretty easily. I’ve also left sheets of 4x8 goods in the bed for a week or longer, which has been convenient.
It has a trailer brake controller (verified working a few months ago). The old bed was in sad shape, so I did a bed swap with new mounting hardware. While the bed was off, I painted the frame with POR-15. The new bed has some rust, and has just started to rust around the wheel arches.
The Bad:
This truck was used as a commercial truck up in VT before I got it, it has some of the typical rust for these trucks (lower doors). I took pictures of the worst rust. The driver"s side is cleaner than the passenger side (pictured). The bed is relatively rust free, and I"ve just started to notice some rust in the rear wheel arches.
The ABS light is on. It was flaky for a while which makes me think it"s a sensor, but I don"t have a OBDII reader that will read ABS so I"m not sure. Truck drives and brakes fine so I haven"t worried about it too much.
Extras:
I built a set of truck bed camper tie down brackets which install in about 10 minutes.
I have a brand new front receiver that installs behind the front bumper. This is helpful for a variety of reasons, but the reason I got it was so that I could maneuver my trailer into a tight area (I’ve since sold the trailer).
I have a tent that sets up in the bed of the truck. It’s a Napier Backroadz Truck Tent. I’ve used it 2-3 times and it was a nice alternative to camping on the ground, or renting/buying a trailer.
I have a bag with a handful of new glow plugs (I had one go bad and replaced just that one, but I bought a set of 8).
