Vehicle description
Hate to sell this but don’t need a 3rd car in the household. The car had 150k miles on it when we purchased it in Jan 2015 and had been well taken care of. Many of the cooling system components that are common to fail on these cars had been replaced by the previous owner.
Between time of purchase and 160k the following parts were replaced- Water Pump (BMW OEM) Steering flex coupler (BMW OEM) Fluids Brakes and Rotors Fuel Filter Fuel Pump Battery Front tires Between 160k and current mileage, the following parts were replaced- Accessory drive pulleys and belts VANOS hose Rear tires (only a few months old)
Only modification was the addition of an AUX input cord for the factory radio which still works well. All features and amenities work well (except those listed below) and no warning lights are on.
It’s been a great car but is starting to show its age a bit. None of the issues listed below have kept us from daily driving the car. Known issues are- Minor oil leak This is believed to be from the oil pan gasket. It needs about a quart added between oil changes and has been consistent since we purchased it. It’s not leaking from the oil filter housing gasket (most common spot on this vintage BMW) at this time. AC blower fan squeaks when cold The fan works fine but on cold mornings the bearings squeak Headliner/Pillar Coverings Typical of these BMWs, the fabric on the headliner and pillars is falling off. The B pillar on the drivers side has been replaced with an OEM part but the others need replacement or recovering Lumbar support does not adjust on driver’s seat Not sure why, never diagnosed it Front strut bushings are starting to creak when cold Rear seat ashtray cover in center console is broken
