“IMPORTANT NOTE: The transmission is slipping intermittently while shifting and should be inspected by a licensed repair facility. In addition, the vehicle will sometimes go into neutral without warning while transmission selector is in DRIVE. A few seconds later, the transmission will reengage and shift properly. This can happen without warning and is considered a safety issue. Any potential buyer of this vehicle must be fully aware that transmission repairs must be made! No diagnosis or repair have yet to be made by the seller for this noted concern. The seller wants to ensure full transparency. Other than the transmission concern, the vehicle performs exceptionally and has been part of my family since May 2003. This is a one-owner, low mileage vehicle, that has been fully maintained with all documented service history and receipts. Exterior and interior are in very good original condition. The vehicle has never been in accident and has a clean CA title.” |

Vehicle description
2003 Volkswagen GLS Wagon 1.8T with Tiptronic 5-speed Automatic Transmission. One owner vehicle, low mileage California car, with full documented service history since we purchased in May 2003.
* Please note comments re transmission concerns* We do NOT wish anyone to purchase this vehicle without knowing that transmission repairs will be required. We do not know what specific repairs are required, as we have not had the concerns diagnosed. The vehicle has been parked for less than a month after we discovered the shifting concern. That said, this could be a perfect car for a DIY"er or perhaps a parts vehicle for another project.
We purchased the car in May 2003 as we prepared to start a family. My daughter was born in July 2003 and this car was now the official family wagon! Fast forward 18 years, and my daughter (who lived in rear child seat), was given the car as a gift for her to drive as a high school senior! Sounds like a VW Commercial, but it"s true.
My daughter is going to college in the Fall, and we"ve since purchased a new vehicle for her to drive as she prepares for college life. Although we considered it, we chose not to proceed with transmission repairs on the Jetta. We realized that the smarter move was to buy a new car for her and to finally sell the Jetta after 18-years. We knew that this could be a nice project car for someone mechanical, or perhaps a good investment and daily driver after the transmission is fixed.
The vehicle is priced to sell as is with no warranty (of course). It"s a very nice car with some great family memories. Our family will miss it but its time to move on.
The vehicle is very pretty and still gets attention after 18-years. See detailed photos. Paint is in good shiny condition and body panels are straight and free of rust. The leather interior is showing its age as are a few broken plastic components in the interior. Headliner is a bit droopy in the rear compartment, but is not torn or damaged. We had the windows tinted in 2003. The tinting on both front door windows are starting to peel. This car has been babied since new and was not driven very much (
