Vehicle description
2003 Wrangler Rubicon Tomb Raider Special Edition. This came with front and rear Dana 44s with electric lockers and a 4:1 transfer case). I am the old original owner who never took it off road or drove it much (chassis has about28.5k miles.) It got a Full Traction Long arm suspension with 6” lift, giving room for 12.5x35 tires (just replaced a year ago) on aluminum wheels, driven by 4.88 gears. A Terraflex Dana 60 with a high pinion and an ARB air locker were installed. It has an ARB front bumper with a tow hitch and a trailer receiver with brake controller (never towed anything!) The 4.0L with an automatic, yielded weak performance and 11mpg/city-14mpg-hwy
So I had San Diego Superchargers do the conversion of a liberty 2.8Lcrd (engine had 57k miles) with it’s 545e transmission (completely rebuilt and with a suncoast torque converter). A Green Diesel Engineering turbo kit gives it about 220hp and 385ft-lbs torque. It has a lift pump, k&N intake system, 2.5” stainless steel exhaust, custom aluminum radiator and intercooler. Gauges include a pyrometer, boost monitor, transmission temp and a good gps speedometer ( the abs rearend from the Liberty wasn’t used, so the speedo and cruise control don’t work). Included will be an extra, low mileage nearly complete 2.8L engine. Also a timing belt kit with tools for changing the belt, factory service cd’s for the Wrangler and Liberty and all the project paperwork, diagrams etc.
The machine runs great. It’s much smoother and accelerates harder (0-60mph in about 7.5s) than a 2003 Wrangler 4L 5sp I drove a lot. Mileage is a 60-70% improvement on the gas engine.
POTENTIAL BUYERS NOTE: This machine may not be smog legal in your state. Ca would not ok it, because the 2005 Diesel Liberty didn’t meet CARB emission standards. Currently it has no egr or cat.
I can deliver this machine to a buyer. Please call as we have lost contact with previous bidders.
