Mechanically Amazing ALH Mark 4 for sale.
Well cared for, lovingly rebuilt and ready for new adventures.
This car has been paid attention to and been rebuilt in most every system, from engine to suspension, brakes and more.

I bought the car at 100k, rebuild the struts, added the skidplate and replaced many more parts as I saw the need. I ran biodiesel in it until 142K when I decided to rebuild the injection pump. The biodiesel had swollen the seals in the injection pump and I wanted to take the car up to higher elevations. That was $2K and I ran diesel in it afterwards. Only 1 month after the pump replacement one of the valve heads randomly failed, separated from the shaft and made a mess of the motor (piston and head). I decided to go with the motor rebuild and all was lovely for about 12K miles. During that time the turbo gave out and I had another motor failure which I attribute to a mechanics error during the first rebuild. The shop did the rebuild and replaced the turbo at a good price. I just had the ABS unit replaced, the brakes and rotors are new, replaced tie-rod ends and dealt with a battery drain issue.
That"s the deal. You know what you"re getting. . a car that"s already been through it"s mid-life crisis/spiritual awakening and come out the other side. Should I have fixed it all those times? Maybe if I hadn"t read Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance so long ago I wouldn"t have. However I did read that book, I do value the act of building quality into my areas of focus and our Jetta has been one such area for the last 7 years. While all of the repairs were happening our family needed another car and now that this one is back online, we don"t need both.
Our investment in keeping this car going will be enjoyed by it"s next owner.
