Vehicle description
The car has been driven and taken care of by an experienced mechanic old guy driving around the North Georgia Mountains in his retirement for the past 13 years. Purchased in 2008 at 40,000 miles as a 65th birthday present to myself. Current mileage is less than 84,000.
Car first titled as a lease in the Los Angeles area and repurchased by Jaguar as a Lemon Law buy back 11 months into the lease. I have all the Jaguar database records of that period and the single complaint was wind noise with most of the convertible top gaskets having been replaced and that is not problem today.
Complete Jaguar dealer service records are extensive and available through 40,000 miles. Owner service/repair records are available for parts.
Previous owner put the previous 30,000 miles on in the Atlanta area. Complete service records while under warranty through 40k miles. Previous owner beat the crap out of his dealer with every little thing. Demanded and got driver seat and back leather replaced due to wear. Same for arm rest leather.
Top raises and lowers as intended with correct window operation with no air or water leaks. Original hoses replaced under Jaguar warranty (03/12/2004)
This is an early built 2002 and did have plastic tensioners. Replaced at 47,000 miles as preventive maintenance. The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S3+ installed 3 years and 3,000 miles ago. Battery has a 12/2019 manufacture date.Jaguar claims lifetime transmission fluid. Ford, that used this transmission in their F150 trucks, recommends 150,000 fluid drain/refill. Transmission fluid was drained and refilled TWICE at 60,000 miles providing about a 90% total replacement.
Water pump, hoses, thermostat, thermostat tower, coolant reservoir, knock sensors and coolant replaced 09/29/2014 as preventive maintenance. Little used cars tend to shorten the lifetime of fuel pumps. This one did fail and was replaced along with the filter at about 80,000 miles (05/24/2018).
During my ownership receipts for materials available. Labor provided by myself. At 77 it is time to clean the toy cars out of the garages.
Extensive inspection of suspension was done with tire replacement at 81,383 miles. No recommended service. Tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+, 245 on front, 255 on rear. Replaced at 81,383, 05/08/2018. That is 2,180 miles of use.
"Reach" function of steering column does not work. Replacement part in hand. Initiative to do the repair is missing.
Canvas top has been religiously maintained and treated with both RaggTopp and 303 Marine canvas protectant. Water beads on the canvas as waxed paint.
Shipping is the purchasers responsibility but will assist within reason.
