Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 2001 Lexus LS430 with the coveted Ultra Luxury Package. I am not sure if I would technically be the second or third owner. The original owner put it up for auction around 138k. A small dealer of 3 or so cars picked up at an auction and only put a few miles on it before selling it to me. The car was meticulously maintained and I have a big folder of all the service records from Ray Catena Lexus in Larchmont NY from the day it was purchased there to the day it was sold at 138k. The original owner brought it in for every little issue, many that the dealer could not recreate. The big maintenance item, the timing belt was done at about 110k.
Over the last 15k I only had one issue with the car, one of the two knock sensors failed. The car had no power, shifted strange and got poor gas mileage. Considering the job requires taking off the intake manifold I replaced both of them to be safe. After some research online, I opted for the OEM Japanese Toyota sensors as many accounts on the forums reported the cheap chinese sensors were very hit or miss. While in there, I cleaned out the throttle body and manifold thoroughly and replaced the spark plugs for good measure. Now the car runs great, has incredible power, shifts very smoothly and gets great mpg. I averaged about 28 mpg on a trip to NYC recently and achieved 600 miles on a tank that included some city driving.
If you aren"t aware of the features on the car I will do my best to list them. Heated/cooled front seats, heated/massage rear seats, rear radio controls, the rear has it"s own seperate A/C system(you could have the heat on in the front and A/C in the back) the power rear seats move back and forth, recline and have power head rests, it has soft close doors so if you get the door on the hinge, a motor will close the door the rest of the way, it has a sun shades on all the rear windows, the rear window is powered and can be controlled from the front or back, the side mirrors retract downwards when you go into reverse, it has parking sensors, navigation, also has air suspension which can be raised about an inch, or put into sport mode which tightens the air shocks for noticeably stiffer cornering. It has 3 12v sockets.
and for so the not so good. . 3 of the 4 corners have some scuffs, I have photos of each, the threading holding two sections of the driver seat have come undone, it"s about an inch and a half long and it could use tires in the next 10-15k. Other than that it"s an excellent running car I wouldn"t hesitate to drive across the country.
