For sale is a 2001 Jeep Wrangler. This TJ is equipped with a 6 cylinder engine, 5 speed manual transmission and it is a 4x4. The drivetrain is very solid. The engine is healthy, transmission shifts good with plenty of life on the clutch and the 4x4 engages effortlessly. no accident or damage history. The exterior paint is overall in good condition and shows well. Tub is in good shape. Some surface rust can be seen on door hinges. The interior is in great shape with original carpet and seats. There are no holes or heavy signs of wear in the interior. The car is equipped with factory ac that works well. There is an aftermarket cd head unit.
This jeep has some issues which are outlined below.
1. Soft top is in fair condition and showing signs of sun wear. The zipper is off track on one side. There are no holes and it is still waterproof.
2. Oil pan gasket has a slight leak. Not enough to leave a stain on the driveway but should be addressed nonetheless.
3. Both outer tie rods bushings are worn. Steering knuckle bushing is also worn.
4. Frame and other metal components are showing surface rust as can be seen in pictures. There are no holes or rot. Undercoating is recommended if you live in a Northern state.
5. One headlight has some internal moisture although it is perfectly functional.
6. As mentioned above door and rear hatch hinges are showing signs of surface rust.
Please remember that this is now a 19 year old jeep. It has held up well and continues to be an enjoyable ride but the above issues should be addressed to make it perfect. I can work with the potential buyer at taking care of some of these issues at their expense. I gather that a good majority will end up upgrading the suspension with aftermarket components so at this time I"m leaving the jeep as is. The car is located in Alexandria, Virginia.
