The year was 2001, and Bentley, in its heyday Britain’s premier performance marque, was returning to compete in the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time since Woolf Barnato and Glen Kidston were victorious in 1930 co-driving the Bentley Speed Six “Old Number One.” To honor that return, Bentley issued a rare Le Mans Edition of its 2001 Arnage Saloon. The Bentley Arnage Le Mans was built in quantities of 93 left-hand and 60 right-hand drive examples, all specially enhanced, top-of-the-line Arnage Red Label models. Identified by its code LC chassis number, the Arnage Le Mans was visually distinguished by exclusive quad exhaust pipes, "Le Mans Series" badges above unique engine compartment vents in the front fenders, wide wheel arches, sport bumpers and 5-spoke sport chromed alloy wheels over Red brake calipers. Special colors were offered, including the Le Mans Racing Green cloaking the handsome example. Special body color inserts decorate the car’s English Tan perforated Connolly leather seats, which also feature embroidered winged-B headrest motifs. Le Mans Racing Green also adorns the instruments and gauges, which boast a special Limited Edition insignia that matches the custom console badge. Bentley’s trademark mirrored burled wood inlays line the plush interior, which also features power seats, windows and locks, a power sunroof, cruise control, air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD sound system. The Bentley Arnage Le Mans lives up to its name with a turbocharged 6.75 liter V-8 engine packing 400 HP and an overwhelming 616 lb-ft of torque mated to a 6-sp ZF 6HP-26 automatic transmission
