Vehicle description

2000 Mercury Grand Marquis
Less than 45,000 original miles, and I"m the second owner.
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY! I have tried to cover everything important.
Car is in very good overall condition. . see photos. There are a few minor dents, and some paint loss on the trim parts.
Newer parts (all less than 2000 miles on these repairs):
Thermostat Water pump Cylinder head temp (CHT) sensor and connector Engine Coolant temp (ECT) sensor and connector 3 new window motors and regulators Front suspension - pitman arm, tie rods, ball joints, control arms & Alignment ($1700) Upper and lower radiator hoses New 50/50 coolant Recent Oil and filter change fuel pump (in tank) Serpentine belt spark plugs Front and rear brakes Four newer studded Goodyear Winter Grip snow tires (will either be on the car or loose but included), four newer Firestone Affinity Touring regular tires Wiper blades Newer battery Newer CD, USB, MP3, Blue Tooth, AM/FM Radio player (Boss model 508UAB, 200 Watts).
Comes with 2 clicker style remote keys and a single key, owners manual, and all OEM repair manuals.
I have all receipts, which will come with the car. About $8,000 in work over time.
Comes with a new set of headlight lenses (in box, not installed), an extra set of tires (either a newer set of studded snow tires or a good set of regular tires will be on the car, the other set is included) and all factory repair manuals and a Haynes manual (about $150 worth of books).
CAVEATS:
PCM (engine"s computer) will need to be replaced.
There was / is an intermittent issue that creates a visual and audible warning that the "engine is overheating". The engine temp guage reads in the center, and the car is running at 180 to 210 deg F, where it should be. Both ECT and CHT and their respective connectors have been replaced with new parts.
This issue can occur within 10 minutes or 30 minutes, and will either shut down the engine after cutting back power steering and brakes (Ford"s fail safe mode for saving the engine) or cause a momentary bump forward, as if you lightly tapped the gas pedal.
According to the OEM manuals that come with the car, past repairing and testing the ECT and CHT sensors, the PCM is the issue and will need to be replaced.
I have created new wiring outside of the OEM wire bundle (I don"t think this is visible in the photos) for a more direct connection to the cylinder head temperature (CHT) sensor. This provided peace of mind to ensure that signals from the CHT where received properly by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) which is the car"s computer. The EHT is working properly, as the temp gauge works correctly.
See paint chips on plastic body trim parts in photos. Dark grey plastic is exposed in certain places.
Mild discoloration on driver side front floor carpet and floor mat, and driver"s seat leather (see photos). Possibly can be cleaned to be as original.
Passenger floor mat has minor stains.
Front bumper is a bit more scuffed up than it appears in the photos. Its decent, however!
Passenger rear window not working, but is currently wedged closed.
Rear luggage compartment light bulb has been removed. I have the (working) bulb!
Driver door does not stay open when opened. . stop rubber must ahve compressed too much over time.
There are some faint sounds when turning on the heater (auto setting). . a bit of creaking. This may be normal.
Tiny coolant leak somewhere. . I can occasionally smell antrifreeze, level goes down maybe 1/4 inch over 2 months or so. I can"t seem to find the leak.
I"m planning on moving to California next year and won"t be able to use this car there. I"d fix it but I think the trade off in time and extra money I may recieve for the car is likely about equal.
SOLD AS IS.
I invite you to take a short test drive. Car is located in Greenwich, CT. Eves 8 PM or after or weekends are best for seeing / test driving the car in person.
