Vehicle description

This is the old story of a car for sale that was owned by a little old lady who only drove it on the weekends. With a few exceptions, The biggest exception is that This is pretty much the truth in this case. This car was bought new and always owned by my grandmother who sadly passed away recently. When purchased New in 2000 it was ordered fully loaded and even has a Factory installed Cell Phone. She drove it 2 times a week, Once a week on Thursdays to her hair dresser and once a week to the grocery store. The miles are correct and are all original. It has always been garaged and never drove in the winter. The Lincoln Town Car is a model line of full-size luxury sedans that was marketed by the Lincoln division of the American automaker Ford Motor Company from 1980 to 2011. Deriving its name from a limousine body style, the Town Car first appeared in 1959 as a sub-model of the Continental Mark IV, returning as a trim line of the Lincoln Continental from 1969 to 1980. For 1981, the Town Car became a model line in its own right, replacing the Continental as the full-size Lincoln, a position it would hold through its discontinuation.Offered today is a Signature Series Lincoln Town Car which adds a handling and performance package to the standard offering of this car. This white on white is a rarely ordered color combination. Nicely preserved. .this is a 1 owner car and is ready to shuttle you around in style.ExteriorIn a major break from Lincoln styling tradition, the Town Car abandoned many of the straight-edged lines of its predecessor. Adopting styling cues of the outgoing Mark VIII and the 1995 Continental, this car adopted a curved design scheme in place of the previous straight-lined body. While the radiator grille was retained, its rectangular shape is changed to oval (its waterfall pattern was adopted by the Lincoln Navigator introduced alongside it), and the hood ornament was deleted. The curved design scheme carried further to the rear of this car in the C-pillar (losing its opera windows) into the trunk lid. To differentiate from its Mercury counterpart, the Town Car switched to individual tail lamps, deleting the filler panel on the trunk lid; a large chrome surround was used on the trunk lid to mount the license plate. This new styling is all wrapped in White and trimmed in beautifully preserved chrome. . Snowflake style wheels are on all 4 corners.InteriorBeautiful and luxurious tan covers most of the interior surfaces. All controls are within the door panels and have a wood appliqu background which adds some nice contrast to the tan. Well preserved tan overstuffed large leather buckets are separated by a fold down armrest. If up, it could accommodate a 3rd passenger upfront. The rear bench is just as luxurious and affords plenty of legroom. The steering wheel has controls for the menu on the dash, temp and fan controls, volume buttons, and cruise control. On the dash is a mixture of green LED readouts, and analog gauges. This holds true for the radio/cassette player and climate control center. Some wear is noted on these inserts in the form of a de lamination of the top clear coating. Tan carpet which is clean, floods the floors, and a tight headliner floats above.DrivetrainLifting the hood, we see the original unrestored drivetrain in the patina engine bay. This is in the form of a 4.6 Liter SOHC V8. Fuel injection adds to efficiency and a 4R70W automatic transmission is attached to the back.UndercarriageSome Very slight surface rust on the usual suspects, (Car was never drove in the winter) but frame, floorpans and wheel tubs are rust free and structurally sound. Independent coil springs for the front suspension and airbags for the rear. Power disc brakes are all around, and the exhaust system is rust free.Drive-AbilityA quick starter, and I sat in the back for this test drive, and it was a great ride. Much like the Citroen with its airbag suspension, it is very smooth, and one can barely feel the bumps. My driver reported good acceleration, good handling, and all controls working. A beautiful classy color combination, plenty of conveniences, and wonderful leather combine to offer up a nice luxury car. From the stand-alone front grille to all the exterior trim, and smooth ride, this is a very nice used car.
