This beetle is registered CA DMV "Non-Op" and needs a smog check when registered in new owner"s name. Clear title. This vehicle was purchased by my mom and late-father a few years back. They put a lot of work into it, and it cleared smog the last time it was registered. It runs hot at times and the last thing to fix is the front engine fans. It runs and starts up great. This would be a great little first car for a new driver or low gas mileage transportation vehicle. It isn"t perfect, but it is a nice running little car. I have taken some pictures of the scuff marks and scratches to the paint. It does have a cut in the back seat headliner and the front headliner is coming down a bit as seen in pictures.
Things done to try to find the "running hot" issue: Replaced the soft plug. Overhauled the cooling system. New thermostat. New water pump. New timing belt. The only things not done that could be it were the front engine fans but my dad passed away before we could finish the work.
I have more pictures if needed/wanted, including video of the car starting up and running, including the stereo working. It has a spare wheel (possibly donut wheel) under the trunk bedding, but no tire on it. All 4 tires are in nice shape with good tread. It will drive down to the nearest mechanic in town for a run through if you"d like to have it checked out. The seats need a good cleaning but they should clean nicely. There might be one or two small holes in the fabric (I think I took pics of them). We will update with a more detailed list of repairs this beetle may have had (we have a friend of the family who did some work but he is in the Army and we need to get him on the phone - wanted to post this asap so my mom has family to help sell it.
Like I said, great little car, runs great and should have no problem passing smog. But I always recommend taking it to a local mechanic to get it checked out before buying. Please contact me with any and all questions. All sales are final.
