See video of cold start, convertible top operation, exhaust note, drive by, instrument cluster at idle, etc. here:https:/ www.youtube.com/watch?v=iQkn_5NTCbEThis listing is for a very unique 6-speed manual 1999 Porsche 911 with a 2007 Carrera S engine swap and GT3 body kit. Let me start by saying this is NOT your run of the mill 996, and if you"re looking for a cookie cutter 996 this isn"t the car for you. This vehicle has a wild history, that includes a rebuilt title (even though I"ve been issued a clean title by the State of Illinois and can send pictures upon request), but the rebuild done on this car was extensive, and over $40,000 was invested. The upgrades to this car include a GT3 style body kit, 2007 Carrera S 3.8L engine swap, and a Pioneer/JL Audio sound system with amps, subs and bluetooth head unit. I"ve owned this car for the last year and a half, and it turns heads everywhere I drive it. The car is completely driveable as is, and I drive it on a regular basis to cruise with my family, car shows, parades, etc. But it does have a few issues to address (mainly that it"s not as fast as it should be), which is why I"ve priced it so low. I"ll do my best to give a lot of information, but if you have any questions, feel free to send me a message.I have owned 5 Porsche 996"s, and know my way around the engine to do general maintenance. The biggest issue with this 911 though is that it"s not as fast as it should be, and needs to be tuned by an expert (and this is way out of my knowledge base or skill level). I have never had a check engine light the entire time I"ve owned it, and it drives great for cruising around or occasionally taking it to work or a night out. When I purchased the car, there was a known small oil leak, and I replaced the crankshaft seal and water cooler, which fixed the issue 100%. Haven"t seen a drop of oil since the fix. In the time I"ve owned it I also replaced the alternator, and put in a new battery. I change my own oil, and the last change was about 500 miles ago. The tires are Hankook Ventus V12"s and are in nice condition with plenty of tread left.Other issues you may or may not care to address:-The power seats don"t work. They need a new control unit (which run about $200 on ebay), and are just plug and play, but I"ve never bothered to put one in as I"m the only one who drives the car, and I manually put the seat in position for me to drive when I first got it. The motors do work fine, it"s just the control unit that needs to be replaced. Also, when I removed the seat to manually put it in the right position, I tripped the airbag light, so that will need to be reset. It"s the only dash light I"ve ever seen illuminated.-The windshield wiper return doesn"t work, so you have to turn the wipers off when they hit the low point. Again, never been an issue I cared to fix because I don"t drive it in the rain.-The turn signal doesn"t always automatically go off when you make a turn so you sometimes have to do it manually.-Both Convertible flaps above the rear quarter panel have been removed. This is a small flap that lifts into place when you put the top down. It"s just for looks and doesn"t serve a function, but if you wanted to replace them, a set costs about $150 on ebay, and it"s a fairly easy DIY.-The middle section of the drivers seat back needs to be re-clipped in place, and it currently sags a bit. -Eventually the Battery+ cable will likely need to be replaced. Search 996 Battery+ cable to get more info, but essentially if you drive the car around for a couple hours straight, resistance builds up in the old 996 cables, and it has a sluggish start. Once the cable cools down it starts completely normally. It"s a common issue with 996"s.-Has a few nicks and scratches as would be expected in a 20 year old car, and the bottom of the front bumper could use a respray, along with the gas cap cover. -Cruise control doesn"t work. There are a ton of positives about this car as well. In addition to the GT3 body kit, which was several thousand dollars, it also has a great set of rims and tires (a few thousand), nice exhaust upgrade (more growl than a normal 996 but not at all obnoxious), upgraded convertible top with the real glass rear window that is in nice condition (a couple thousand. .top did have one small tear in the middle that has been repaired with a patch), upgraded pioneer/JL Audio sound system with bluetooth (a few thousand dollars), and of course the 2007 Carrera S engine. If someone has the ability to tune this, or wants to take it to a tuner, it will be an absolute rocket. The 3.8L Carrera S engine, in the lighter 996 frame would make for an amazingly fast 911. I have never raced or tracked any of my 911"s, and Springfield doesn"t have a shop that tunes, so it"s not something I ever considered addressing. Long story short, if you"re looking for an amazing looking 911 to enjoy driving, this is a great one to consider. If you"re looking for an ultra fast 911, this is also one to consider if you"re willing to put in a little time or money to getting it dialed in.Car is sold as is, so please feel free to reach out to me with any questions, or if you"d like to take it for a test drive. If you"re not in the Springfield area, and are interested, please reach out, and I can facetime with you to give the car a full walk around, drive, additional pictures/videos, etc. I"m able to help coordinate shipping anywhere in the U.S. at the buyers cost. Thanks so much for taking a look!
