Vehicle description
Here’s my sister’s gorgeous 1999 Jaguar XJ Vanden Plas. It used to be my father’s car and he passed it down to my sister and now I’m selling it for my sister. She’s leasing a new Honda Accord and needs the driveway space. The car is unregistered and has been off the road for less than a year. Up until then, it was a daily driver for a suburban mom.
This car will turn heads when you drive down the street. It is luxurious and important looking and drove like a charm when it was on the road. There were no transmission, suspension or engine issues when it was taken off the road. It is very clean with no dents; just two small rust spots (see pictures) on the passenger side rear wheel well and the front of the hood. There are also the usual scrapes and scratches on the bumpers. The interior is in great shape with no tears, but the usual slight wear in the leather seats. The 4 Michelin tires have plenty of tread. There"s a CD changer in the trunk. Known issues are: power antenna is broken, one hubcap is missing, the headliner is sagging and needs to be replaced, there"s one piece of door trim missing and the AC needs to be charged. Also, the car was running fine recently, but when I just started it up, it went into Restricted Performance Mode with a Traction Control Fail error and Stability Control Fail error. The ABS and Check engine lights are also on. As a guy who’s owned a lot of cars, including classics, and who knows quite a bit about mechanics, I would say there is something minor wrong with a sensor or perhaps a vacuum leak. I really think it’s minor. I connected an OBD2 reader and couldn’t get it to pull any codes. I’m not sure if this model needs a specific OBD reader (like my Mercedes does), but I am selling this for my sister now, AS IS, with an opening bid of $3500 with NO RESERVE. There’s only 111,798 miles on the car, which is super low for the age. If you want to own a very impressive luxury car that needs a little bit of work, for a crazy low price, this car may just be for you. It is in Somers, New York and is unregistered without plates, so you can only test drive it in the cul de sac and it will have to be towed away. Bid with confidence. I have bought and sold many vehicles on and have a 100% rating. Thanks, Mike
