1999 AM General H1 with 6.5L Turbo Diesel and 73000 miles. This is my second H1. I specifically purchased this H1 for a few reasons- - The previous owners had owned multiple H1s as well so they also knew the do and don’ts. It came from NC and is super clean for the year. It had a documented engine replacement under warranty on 03-14-00 when the truck had 29,777 miles. This is very important as the older 6.5L engines can suffer from #8 cylinder issues. I was constantly worried about this when I owned my 1996 H1 so I ensured I bought a newer H1 with the upgraded AM General engine. This 99 is much more powerful than my 96 was.
This 99 is in great condition, but does have normal wear and tear for its age. It has full under carriage protection. Upgraded ALPHA airbox cover, upgraded ALPHA mirrors, upgraded rearview mirror with digital thermometer and compass, wet okole (wetsuit material) Hummer seat covers, all LED lighting with upgraded truck-lite headlights (super bright and looks awesome at night), OE 2 piece military wheels, new military goodyear 37x12.50 tires, optional heated windshields (BOTH), momo steering wheel, radio delete sleeve (speakers and wires still installed), upgraded “H1” emblems, Hummer kit included (tire pressure gauge, flashlight, multi-tool), CTIS is disconnected but pump still works, owner manual included.
I just changed all the geared hub fluid, completed oil change with 6.5L TD SS diesel specific oil filter, new OEM air filter and upgraded the air filter canister latch to the new model (no more tools required). Fresh coolant flush along with 2 new high-flow thermostats from SS Diesel. The H1 has ZERO heat issues (unlike my 96 and many other H1s). It will run all day in any weather condition and never get overheated. AC works great, although most times I just take the top off. This H1 doesn’t leak a drop of anything! Since owning I have always run Opti-lube XPD fuel additive to help improve the lubricity of the diesel fuel (google Spencer test to read about how “dry” normal ULSD fuel is). H1 is stored indoors (in heated garage) and never driven in the winter.
