Vehicle description
SELLING MY 1999 7.3 DIESEL F350 WITH 223835K MILES NEEDS A TRANSMISSION & ASSOCIATED PARTS. WAS RUNNING JUST FINE ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. APPARENTLY THE FRONT U-JOINT ON THE MAIN DRIVESHAFT DECIDED TO GIVE OUT AT HIGHWAY SPEED. THIS CAUSED A SHORT BUT VIOLENT VIBRATION WHICH RESULTED IN THE TRANSMISSION BELL HOUSING CRACKING ALL THE WAY AROUND. THIS TRUCK CAN BE BACK ON THE ROAD WITH A LITTLE WORK. I SPENT OVER $10K ON IT ABOUT A YEAR AGO.
RECENT WORK LESS THAN A YEAR ABOUT 12K MILES BEFORE THE DISASTER FORD DEALER INSTALLED 1) REBUILT TRANSMISSION - 3 YEAR WARRANTY - NOW IT"S BUSTED 2) NEW FLEX DISK 3) NEW TORQUE CONVERTOR 4) NEW STARTER 5) NEW ENGINE CONTROL MODULE COMPUTER 6) NEW GEM MODULE 7) NEW ICM MODULE 8) NEW INJECTORS 9) NEW GLOW PLUGS 10) NEW INJECTOR & GLOW PLUG HARNESSES 11) NEW HIGH PRESSURE OIL PUMP 12) REBUILT TURBO, BANKS COMPRESSOR WHEELS 13) TIRES - PRO COMP 35 x 18 ABOUT 12K MILES 14) BOTH BATTERIES REPLACED 15) A/C CONDENSER - A/C RUNS COLD 16) NEW WINDSHIELD 17) THERE IS ALSO A BANKS AIR CLEANER ON IT
THE TRUCK IS ALSO EQUIPPED WITH A VEGISTROKE SYSTEM THAT ALLOWS IT TO RUN ON FILTERED VEGETABLE OIL. THE SYSTEM COST ABOUT 3K TO INSTALL. I ALWAYS USED ABOUT A 50/50 MIX OF DIESEL/VEGETABLE OIL FILTERED TO 6 MICRONS. RUNS GREAT ON THE STUFF BUT THE SYSTEM PUMP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND THERE IS A SMALL WEEP LEAK IN THE FUEL RAIL CROSSOVER HOSE. THE SYSTEM HAS BEEN ON THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT SIX YEARS AND I HAVE BURNED HUNDREDS OF GALLONS OF OIL THROUGH IT. THE CROSSOVER HOSE IS VERY CLOSE TO THE TURBO AND MAY BE SUFFERING FROM GETTING TOO CLOSE TO THE EXHAUST, INSULATION SLIPPED OFF RECENTLY. I ALSO HAVE OVER 300 GALLONS OF VEGETABLE OIL THAT CAN BE HAD CHEAP IF YOU BUY THE TRUCK. BODY IS RUST FREE BUT HAS SOME SCRATCHES ON THE LEFT SIDE AND THE DOORS ARE A LITTLE DENTED UP. THERE IS NO RADIO IN THE DASH. THERE IS NO DEEP RUST ON THE BODY. UNDERSIDE HAS BEEN COATED MANY YEARS AGO AND IT PROTECTED THE TRUCK WELL.
I HAVE CONSIDERED FIXING IT MYSELF BUT I THINK I AM READY TO MOVE TO A NEWER TRUCK. THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT ONE AND I THINK HAS SOME LIFE LEFT IN IT.
DAMAGED PARTS HAVE BEEN REMOVED. TRUCK NEEDS: 1) TRANMISSION 2) DRIVE SHAFT, YOKE & U-JOINTS COMPLETE 3) FLEX DISK 4) TORQUE CONVERTER 5) INSTALLATION LABOR
VEGI SYSTEM NEEDS A PUMP AND A FEW NEW HOSES.
