Vehicle description
This is a 1998 Volvo S70 with a 2.4l straight-five engine.
The instrument panel I have put into the vehicle reads 282,768 but the real amount based off the original is around 214,768. I have the documentation to prove this.
The features this car has are seat warmers, cd/tape stereo with Radio Data System, Dolby Audio Processor, sunroof, rear fog light, power locks, power windows, power seats, trip computer, abs/traction control, cabin filter and a disc changer.
I"ve added a lot of parts from various other Volvos, including a newer 2003 passenger airbag from a Volvo S70, most of a top of the line stock sound system from a 2003 C70, a newer upper dashboard panel from that same C70, side lights from a Volvo S70R and an extra storage compartment on the front passenger side from a 1999 Volvo S70 Millennium. There is also a different dashboard instrument panel in it from an S70 that has the trip computer activated on it. As much as this was a great find for me, it also changed the odometer readout to match the car I took it from. There are about 68,000 to 70,000 extra miles on the odometer than the car really has. I have kept several auto shop receipts from local places and Sears as proof of this.
Many parts have been replaced since the 3 years we"ve owned it including the exhaust manifold, tie rods, control arms, both o2 sensors, pnp switch, signal flasher relay, a refurbished abs module, all belts including timing belt, tensioner for timing belt, water pump, pulleys, oil cap, upgraded car horns (Hella Supertones), upgraded engine mount bushing from IPD, , hydraulics for the trunk and I"m sure a few others I"ve forgotten. I also have various extra relays and small electrical parts that I"ve collected from salvage yards.
Issues with vehicle:
Mainly a transmission solenoid and a radiator replacement.
It is throwing a P0755 error code. A Shift Solenoid B Malfunction. So this solenoid probably needs to be replaced. Hard to verify without looking at it. This causes the vehicle to be sluggish on acceleration. There are moments where the solenoid can start working again and then the vehicle will drive like normal. Once you"re on the highway with it, it drives pretty normal. I have driven it very far distances while it has had this problem. This car performed extremely well before this issue but I just don"t have to will to perform this repair at an apartment complex or pay someone to do it.
It would also be a good idea to get the radiator replaced, as it is old and plastic connectors to the hoses are beginning to get more brittle. One of those hose connectors has become very short and while I"ve managed to tighten the hose back onto the radiator, I"d recommend getting this somewhat easy fix done pretty soon.
Other than that, it has a few more minor problems like the hood release cable breaking and some interior wear like the leather seats and panels. I rigged a temporary solution to open the hood from the outside in the meantime. A little rust near the sunroof. Brakes are a little noisy. Not much else. Tires are in decent shape and come with a Discount Tire certificate.
This car can definitely have a lot of life left in it with these repairs and someone with the time to do them.
