Vehicle description
184,144 miles. I bought it from my mechanic in January 2018 with around 175,000 miles and have been driving as my daily driver up until 9/13/19. I am selling this for parts or repair. It does drive and stop and NJ inspection is good until July 2020. But there"s alot to do if you want to do it. I know the engine runs very strong. and it and the drivetrain alone are worth what I am asking for this car and if you purchase and pay for it and register/insure it you can drive it to where you want it which is a positive. I also figure that someone might want this for conversion to a race car or whatever other purpose might suit them. Car is titled in my name. Local pickup only. NO TEST DRIVES AS THE CAR IS NO LONGER REGISTERED OR INSURED. And NO RETURN. You buy this car AS-IS with NO WARRANTY.
Since I bought it I have had the following work done:
1. My mechanic replaced the camshaft position sensor, coil and wire.
2. My mechanic also replaced the flexible brake hose from the brake lines to caliper for each wheel and replaced the brake fluid.
3. I"ve replace the motor oil & filter myself twice with synthetic 5W-30. The car does not burn oil.
Here is what I know can and/or should be done or what I note that is not working (there may be other things that I am unaware of):
1. The fog lights do not work.
2. The hood paint needs to be repainted entirely - the clear coat is toast.
3. In addition, the underside latch catch on the driver side has been repaired as it nearly is parted off the underside of the hood. (This is a known problem with these cars). At the moment the fix is working and when the hood is released the hood can be opened. Sometimes you have to release the hood and have someone gently pull up on it to get the hood to pop open.
4. Cruise control not working and I believe has been functionally removed from the car.
5. Brakes do stop the car with pulsing so you should consider the car to need new brakes and rotors.
6. Passenger side above the gas fill door you will see a photo of some cracking bondo. I have no idea what"s going on there with that and never did ask my mechanic about it.
7. Motorized antenna no longer works and the antenna mast is simply taped together but it does provide a good signal for radio reception.
8. Rear seat power socket missing.
9. Front seat power socket falls into the center console so I have a string leash that I grab to keep it from falling in when I need to insert a plug for the gps or phone charger.
10. Some interior trim pieces that have broken off are in the door panel pocket.
11. The center console is missing a button of some sort and I am not so sure that the S E W buttons work when depressed.
12. Headliner I have glued up with headliner spray glue but it is coming down a little in the back on each side - not blocking the rear window or on passenger"s head yet but probably will be again some day and will need to be re-glued.
13. Driver side front seat is worn. Passenger front seat is good. Back seat is very good shape.
14. Driver side front floor mat is worn but relatively clean. Passenger side is much less worn and clean. Driver side rear mat is not worn and is clean. Passenger side rear mat missing - floor is clean though.
15. Door chime won"t shut off. I removed fuse 16 to try to silence it but it didn"t do it (but it did shut off the interior lights which I just deal with).
16. I also removed the fuse (I think it is 15 or 17 (either side of 16 if I remember correctly)) for the motorized antenna motor.
17. There is an extra OBD wiring harness pigtailed in the center console armrest compartment. I never asked my mechanic why he did that but my guess is that the original one is probably shorted or burned out. The pigtailed harness does work and got me through inspection last summer (inspection in NJ isn"t due again till July 2020).
18. The check engine light is on due to an emissions issue probably due to an evap leak in what I believe is a canister in the passenger side trunk compartment (this may be somehow connected with the cracked bondo issue noted in paragraph 6 above). If you get that fault cleared and head directly to the inspection station, it will pass. In a few years in NJ you will no longer need to have emissions tested on the car anyway.
19. The ABS light is on as the system is not working (it was when I got the car but it failed a few months ago).
That is all I can think of that needs attention. There may be more that I am unaware of.
