Call it a late Xmas gift! Good father son/daughter project. Would make a great Drift car start.
This was my car for awhile 7 years ago and I gave it to my 50 year old son who drove it for a year then had lower end rod issues. (I had the engine and trans rebuilt prior to leaving my prior residence and moving to Merritt Island.) He parked the car and rather than rebuild the engine he and his brother bought another "running" Celica for the engine and trusted his brother and friends to replace the engine while he worked in Texas.
Well, family! Fast forward to 2 years ago and he and I went back to Ft Meyers to retrieve the car.
The engine was out and the other useless from sitting untouched for 2 years.
So he and I tore both engines apart had the block and crank machined, installed all new bearing, bought a rebuilt head had the cylinders cleaned up at machine shop-still good from previous rebuild and started to put pieces back together- what I could find from the dismantling done in Ft Meyers. So the entire AC system was replaced, new battery, and rebuilt engine, new torque converter and all engine mounts.
We also sanded the paint in prep for a new paint job which I did (2 coats of color) and then my son found a lady friend and the car took 2nd place. So it has a very good base but need wet sanding and final paint.
I am selling it as a project since my son passed in Dec from cancer and I want the car gone. It needs carpet and drivers seat redone- I used sheeepskin covers. I have many spare parts to go with the car including a new Vader fiberglas front end. Plus spare top motor, window motors power mirror spare etc.
I have never started the car although it turns over easily. I didn"t take all the vacuum hoses or electrical connections off the engine so the buyer will have that to contend with. tires are good, top and all power windows and locks work as they should. The car also comes with a Parade boot to cover the top when it is down. Really looks good as can be seen in the pix. And the transmission doesn"t have more than 3000 miles on it since rebuild.
Attention Scammers: I have already been contacted by 2 such folks and I will not give out VIN or other personal info to VIN check or PAR websites. You can do that when you are here in person with cash in hand for the car as is and the clear title. Sorry to real buyers but you know how the IT world is Phishing for your personal data.
I know the car has never been in an accident during the 10 years I have owned it and the previous owner (who lives near by here in FL) states he never had an accident.
I included a few pix of the car when I had it with racing stripe and side GT signage.
