Vehicle description
Convertible weather is here!
I"m the 2nd Owner of this 56K MILE 1998 SL500.
The Good: - Ultra-low miles for a car of this age (almost everything else you"ll see is 120k+ miles) - Starts and runs strong - Fast and fun - Leather seats, telescoping steering wheel - New tires ~ 1 year ago w/ low miles - Garaged year round by both owners and Stored Winters - Interior is clean and leather and carpet are in excellent shape for a car of this age. - Upgraded detachable face stereo w/ Bluetooth and hidden phone compartment - Zero rust - Zero accidents
Areas for Attention: The hydraulics for the soft top need work. The top can only be raised/lowered manually at this time. The soft top is the original top and is in good condition for its age.
Other Areas for TLC (Cosmetic IMHO): - The front bumper cover is cracked (see picture) - The passenger side mirror housing is loose (hard to even notice in picture) - A couple of scratches where you put the hard top on (see picture) - Some of the interior leather on the "A Pillars" has come loose at the bottom (see picture) - Some of the interior plastic parts have become brittle or broken (e.g., plastic knobs on vents) (see picture) - Headliner has come loose from the hard top. (Note: The hardtop is in Like New condition because it"s been stored basically 100% of the time, but the headliner did come loose before the winter). - Pulled it out of storage today and the SRS light came on. Quick google search sounds like it is an easy fix of wiring. - Check Engine Light just came on last time I drove it. I had it checked and it says it needs an Oxygen Sensor - about $200.
Note: AutoCheck shows clear title. CarFax says branded title. The title itself looks fine. I"m the second owner and have had this car ~7 years and believe the mileage is accurate.
Vehicle is being sold as-is.
