Vehicle description
1998 Ford Explorer XLT 4X4. Condition is "Used".
I bought this vehicle in May 2019 from the second owner, a 90 year old man from Huntington Station, NY who could no longer drive. In the past 20 months I have only rarely driven it, as I have since purchased another, smaller and more fuel efficient SUV.
Although this SUV has been not been regularly driven for approximately one year, I still start it up with a jump every week and let it run for about 15 minutes. I have had the alternator checked out, and I just put a new battery in the truck, but it still needs a jump to start. The exterior of truck is dirty, as I haven"t washed it since last spring. The bottom of the passenger side bumper is slightly dented. Other than the rusted brackets detailed in the attached pictures, there is no body rust. There is only slight surface rust and areas of paint discoloration The cloth interior is in good shape. The only issues that I can find is some green paint on the driver"s seat, and a coffee stain on the right passenger rear floor.
The pictures which I have enclosed are from when the previous owner puchased the vehicle. The last four pictures are of the brackets that attach the rear leaf springs to the chassis of the vehicle. While the leaf springs are fine, the brackets on both sides are rusted and should be replaced.
If you live locally and would like to inspect my truck, just contact me in order to make an appointment.
The starting bid on this auction is $515.00, which is the scrap value of this truck plus the listing fee. I believe that this truck is in too good condition to scrap. With a couple of low-cost repairs, this truck will give the new owner years of service.
Good luck, and thank you for bidding in my auction!
