Vehicle description

IMPORTANT , PLEASE READ ENTIRE DISCRIPTION.
1998 Supercharged Buick Riviera. with 71,200 actual original miles
3800 6-cylinder automatic.
Car is not drivable, needs brakes, could be repaired, or used (sadly) for a parts car. Keep reading.
The good: Car runs great, drove straight and smooth. And it"s quick! Ice cold A/C, new compressor maybe 2 years ago. Really low 72k original miles. Fantastic Buick 3800 supercharged engine. Power windows, locks, seats and working power antenna. Sunroof, 4 Brand new Firestone tires with maybe 40 miles on them. New battery. Chrome wheels, all with their center caps. 2 keys, 2 key fobs. Interior of the car is in really nice shape, tan leather. Nice stereo, but don"t know if the CD players works. No fluid leaks that I have noticed. Newer radiator. Supercharger was rebuilt a few years ago. Headliner is good, the A pillars (ones next to the windshield) are upholstered as well, and the cloth is wrinkled.
The Bad: PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS. Brakes are gone, shot, done, I took it to the local chain tire store a few months ago to get new tires, they said at the time (although I hadn"t asked) that the master brake cylinder needed to be replaced along with a very long list of other brake components for a total cost of about 4 times what I paid for the tires. They said it needed pads, rotors, lines, and of course the master cylinder. I didn"t believe them, because well, it"s a tire place and upselling is what they do. I left on the new tires, but didn"t make it the 10 miles home before the brakes went almost completely out. So, the car will more than likely need a complete brake system overhaul.
The car"s ignition sticks and has gotten very hard to turn, it"s like the key catches on something, both keys do the same thing, if it"s messed with for a bit, turning the wheel back and forth what little it will move when locked, the key will eventually turn and the car will start.
The keys have the GM old school security system chip in them and they are getting finnicky, if you turn the car on (once you get the key to actually turn) and release the key to quickly, the car will shut off. I"ve had this bypassed in a couple other cars that I"ve owned with this chip key thing, it requires having a diode put in the ignition to bypass the security system. My mechanic at the time charged me less that 60 bucks to do it, but that was years ago. I don"t think the hard to turn key and the security chip in the key issues are related, but don"t know.
The drivers seat motor has gotten tired, I bought a replacement power seat for it, but with the brake thing going on, never installed it. It is included with the sale of the car. The replacement seat is the same color and the leather is in better shape that the cars original seat which is still pretty nice.
The paint is about a 4 or 5 out of 10. and looks a LOT better in the pictures than it does in person . The paint is holding up, it"s all there, but has a lot of little cracks in it and has stains from being parked to close to the Oak tree, especially on any flat surfaces, trunk, roof and hood. There are also spots on the front of the hood above the grill where the paint is bad as well. I took numerous photos, but the bad areas wouldn"t show up well.
The sunroof will go up and down fine, but not slide back. I lubricated the tracks, but didn"t want to mess with it and have it open and not close.
And lastly, the wipers when turned on, didn"t want to shut off, had to turn the car off to get them to turn off and reseat. It"s going to need a new wiper motor, I"ve had this same issue in a 95 Riviera that I had years ago, some type of relay within the motor goes bad and sticks open.
I bought the car about 5 years ago here in FL with under 50k on it, gave it to my niece who had it till about a year ago and then I got it back when she got something bigger.
So, if you bid/win, be aware that this car cannot be safely driven and must be towed or trailered to its destination. Be aware of both key issues, sticky ignition and chip key issues. Be aware of the poor paint condition, wipers, the drivers seat and sunroof issues and that I don"t know if the CD player works.
Just want to be clear so that folks know what they"re bidding on and there are no surprises.
Any questions, shoot me an email.
Thanks
