Hard-to-find 1997 Volkswagen Passat GLX Wagon, good exterior and interior for age and mileage, well-maintained by 1 owner, nonsmoker. 5-speed manual transmission shifts easily, steers well, desirable slant V6 engine provides p lenty of power (able to pull small trailer over the Rockies), no smoke from engine, 19/MPG city/24 MPG highway. Suspension is in good shape; n o rust that I am aware of. Interior has 4 bucket seats with headrests, good head clearance, r ear cargo space with sliding cover. Each b ack seat folds flat to create a 6" sleeping space. Anti-theft system, alarm, power door locks. R ecently replaced c lutch, alternator, battery, water pump, door skins. Tires have about 70% life left. Car h as some mechanical issues: radiator leaks, camshaft sensor probably needs to be replaced, mechanic says transmission may have a worn bearing. A/C is slow to come on, heat gets lukewarm, and doors stick. I’m unable to open hatch, rear wiper hose is missing, and check engine light comes on for no apparent reason. I would have made necessary repairs myself as the car has many good miles left, but I needed to replace it with a wheelchair van. Comes with roof rack, trailer hitch, and spare full-size tire.
