1997 Toyota Land Cruiser - Condition is used
This is the last year of the solid axle Landcruisers and I really hate to let go of but I recently picked up a UZJ100 so this project needs to go to another LC fan than can either restore or use the parts for their own build.
Here is the good: Engine runs well and has the usual oil leaks from a high mileage engine. I purchase the vehicle with 212000 miles and proceeded to change the oil, plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, and air filter. Exhaust was brand from the Manifold to the tailpipe. 2 new cats were installed. I tried to keep everything factory so that I could easily replace parts if needed. At the 230k mark I replaced the water pump and fan clutch with new Aisin parts. I had replaced front and rear brakes but it will need new brakes from the vehicle sitting for 2 plus years unless you resurface the rotors. The front rotors are StopTechs slotted that worked great before parking. Battery was replaced 8 months ago.Listed below are the suspension parts and lift on the vehicle:
OME 2850J 3" Heavy load Front Springs OME 2863J 3" Heavy load Rear Springs TJM front and rear adjustable panhard bars Manafre front and rear sway bar drop links Manafre Front and rear steel braded brake lines (fronts are not installed but included) OME shocks and steering stabilizer IronMan 3 degree caster bushings
Tires are 315/75/16 BFG KM2 Mud Terrains with approximately 60% tread left. Spare is brand new Rims are from an LX450 with 1.5 spacers
I had rebuilt the front axle however the drivers side leaks again due to using Marlin Crawler seals instead of oem like everyone said to do.
Gauge cluster replaced due to tach not working. All gauges and lights are working. Airbag light is on since the swap however never did the reset mod to turn off. Also installed CDL switch that works correctly when in 4Hi and locks center diff.
The Bad: Due to the sunroof leaking the floors and rockers are severely rotted out as you can see in the pics. Factory sheet metal is still available as that was the plan 8 months ago when I started working on it again. I have gutted the interior to get an assessment of the rust and the front floor pans and rockers need replacing. The rear quarters also have rot hidden behind the bumper cap.
Steering box is leaking from sitting.
I have driven the vehicle up my road a few times over the months so I know everything is still working.
