Vehicle description

This is a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer. Starts and runs good if you can keep the stray cats off of it as they are always tripping the alarm system on it. It has cold air and the heater works good but you have to swap the heater hoses around depending on the season. I think the valve that shuts off the heater doesn"t work or I have it hooked up backwards so I bypass the heater core in the summer so the air will be cold.
It has the best sound system you ever heard! ! As a matter of fact it will also play CD Data discs and USB memory sticks and you can put a lot of songs on a data CD or a memory stick! It has a "boom box" (about 14" square) and an extra amp that goes with it. It is already pre-wired for it (I taped up the ends of the wires) but I removed it because I never could figure how to make it work. My wife said her brother got it to work but I don"t know how. The extra amp comes on and seems to work alright but I can"t get the "boom box" to make any sound (see pics). All I can get to work is the other four speakers of the car (they have their own identical amp) but the sound is sweet. It is all hooked to the battery on a separate fuse and with a wire about 1/4" in diameter.
Rock the vehicle or try to open a door and all * * breaks loose. It has 262,248 miles on it so it is for sale "AS IS". The leather on the drivers seat ripped and I covered it with a brown cushion. The stuff on the steering wheel all works but the plastic is all busted up and it doesn"t look too good.
I bought it 3 years ago and the title is in my name and it is clear. I hate to sell it but my wife died and that leaves me with 3 cars and I am single so I just don"t need it. I drive a truck and my wife drove the suv. The tags have expired and it has just been sitting. She died 2 1/2 years ago so she didn"t get to drive it much. I drove it every now and then for a couple years. The last 6 months it has been parked . If you have any questions just shoot me an email.
It gets ridiculously good gas mileage. Every now and then the check engine light comes on and the tester says the motor is getting too much air. That makes me afraid to replace the oxygen sensor for fear that is why the mileage is so good. It will make you a good vehicle! I only accept a non-refundable $50 deposit via paypal. The balance you have to pay in cash in person as I won"t ship it. It has been sitting for a while as I said so I would bring a trailer to transport it as the valve cover gaskets may have dried out. I have never taken it on a long trip. A couple hundred miles or so is the longest distance I have driven it at one time. It has never let me down but if you choose to drive it home then do so at your own risk! Best I remember, the rear tires could stand replacing. We used it to get around town primarily. If it doesn"t sell I will start driving it again the 1st of April when my truck tags run out. I will probably still try and sell it but I will advertise it then as my "daily driver". Thanks for looking at my listing!
