Vehicle description
This is your basic steroidal work truck. I am the second owner, as far as I know (about four years, I think). The previous/original owner used the truck to haul his boat from northern CA to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, along with a bit of construction work. I have used the truck to haul firewood on property I used to own, along with a bit of race car and bicycle hauling. In January of 2020, I drove the truck from CA to Georgia with a 5000-pound car trailer in tow (and another 1000 pounds of stuff in the bed), and the thing worked flawlessly; it averaged 19 miles per gallon doing 70 through Texas. Prior to last year, the truck has always lived in CA, so there is no body or frame cancer, and nuts/bolts are not welded in place by decay of any kind. The truck runs and drives very well. I only drive it about once a week now, as I have migrated to the suburbs.
The truck has always been effectively maintained. Prior to my purchase, the original owner had the transmission rebuilt (about 50k ago). Since I have owned the truck, I have replaced basic wear items including the starter, alternator, exhaust manifold, brake rotors/pads, radiator and hoses, water pump, and the fuel lift pump. Surely there was something else (edit: steering linkage was also replaced last year). The front axle disconnect (vacuum-actuated) was replaced with a Posi-Lock cable system (in-cab). Tires were replaced about 1000 miles ago. Batteries (both AGM) were replaced last month. In the past year, I have literally only put fuel in the truck three times.
While the truck is in very good shape, it has been used for actual work in its life. Most of the mileage came from long freeway trips. It has lived outside. Coffee has been spilled on the carpet. Tree branches have scratched the sides. Rocks have been thrown in the bed. Four-wheel-drive has been used out of necessity. With this in mind, the truck has only been owned and used by relatively mature adults. It has not been washed or waxed with any frequency.
The engine is stock. The fuel system has not been tinkered with. The exhaust system has been updated with a bigger non-catalyst deal (yes, there is still a muffler). The EGR was deleted, and the original intake tube was replaced with a larger, non-strangled unit. The grid heater is still in place and functional. There is a block heater. The engine runs clean and does not burn oil. It barely makes the oil dirty. It generally does not even leak.
There are flaws, as with any adult-aged used vehicle. The A/C has never blown cold air for me (never bothered to figure out why). The steering box has light play (not exactly modern, in other words). The fuel light comes on at about 100 miles (truck will drive at least 500 on a full tank). The clear coat is flaking off of the roof and hood (see final picture).
Should you have any questions or need more pictures of a specific part of the truck, let me know. The reserve price is very reasonable, given the market these days (four figures). The truck is located about 30 miles from Atlanta, Georgia.
