993 is the Porsche designation for the last of the air cooled models they produced. This is a barely driven luxury model 993 that was DISCOVERED PARKED FOR 10 YEARS PROTECTED AND STORED IN THE ARIZONA DESERT with only 32,000 miles. It was transported to Southern California where the Porsche factory authorized dealer validated the mileage and did mechanical restoration. The body and convertible top were in pristine condition. The iris blue metallic exterior with matching blue convertible top combined with the grey and midnight blue interior, and factory installed aluminum instrument dials give the car a spectacular appearance. I looked for over a year to find a low mileage luxury model with an automatic transmission. The factory installed touring suspension, leather interior, computer driven Tiptronic transmission with luxury options like air conditioning, and speed control make the car a pleasure to drive in traffic and on the freeway. Among the power driven options are the Convertible top, 8 way adjustable Seats, Steering, Brakes, Windows and Mirrors. It has an alarm system with immobilizer and an board computer and OBD2 diagnostic connector. ONE MAJOR UPGRADE WAS MADE: Porsche manufactures a Radio Navigation System that fits in the space occupied by the original radio. Not only does it match the lettering and aesthetics of the interior but it also has a touch screen, GPS, hands free wireless cell phone connection, AM-FM radio, 4 channel amplifiers with 45 watts per channel, Bluetooth, USB and iPad ports. It was installed by Porsche and integrated perfectly with the preexisting factory installed Hi-Fi sound package and speakers. I have driven the car about 5500 miles since purchasing it in 2016 (the speedometer reading May 2021 was 37,411). Prior to my retirement I was an eye surgeon. If there was anything that did not meet my perfectionist expectations or malfunctioned I took the car for repairs. This car has spent its entire life in a rust free environment where no road chemicals are used. When not drive I have kept it in my garage. The 993 was the third and final version of the air cooled 911. In addition to the new aerodynamic body style that still looks new, 80% of the parts were new designs. Major changes were made to the frame and multi-link suspension to improve handling and stability. Larger brakes with an advanced ABS system and a dual flow exhaust system were added as were the steering wheel shifters for the Tiptronic transmission. 1996 was the year when the final upgrade was made to this model i ncreasing the horsepower to 285 BHP. The car came originally with a Becker CR210 Porsche cassette radio, a Porsche multi disk CD player, dealer installed Cell phone, tool kit, accessory cleaning kit in metal case, electric air pump and tonneau cover with case for the convertible top.
