1996 Mercedes Benz SL500 Black on Black. I bought this car for $10k from David James Elliott star of the TV show "JAG" about 6 months ago? I"m the 3rd owner. He rarely drove it and never took the hardtop off (once to have a deluxe roof-liner installed). I took it off and the soft top is pristine. Because it had rarely been off, the hydraulic pump leaked, so I had them sent to a Mercedes specialist in San Francisco to be rebuilt better than new (have receipts). Apparently, they were known to have a failure problems, and my local Mercedes specialist reinstalled them, and now they work flawlessly. Power roll bar works perfectly as well. I have spent around $9,000.00 to get the car running perfectly. I have ALL the repair receipts that will go with the car. All work was done by certified Mercedes mechanic shops. Here are the things I know that need attention. There is a small split in the passenger seat seam, the usual scratches on the paint, no dent damage that I can see, rearview mirror is aftermarket (It came that way), key fobs work, but are brittle and need to be replaced, radio antenna doesn"t always go up, center armrest adjust lever is broken and armrest has a crack in the leather, and as far as I know that"s it. I do not know this car very well, other than it goes really FAST and handles great, so there might be some other defects that I am unaware of, I"m trying to be as upfront as possible. The owner of the Mercedes shop I brought it to, said it was a beautiful car, and it ran very well. It only has 51k miles on it. I did a lot of work on this car and it runs great, and I have all paperwork to back it up. Ask any questions, and I"ll do my best to answer them. I had three generations of the roadster SL and I sold one, and selling this one, and keeping the 1980 450SL. I don"t need three, as I have only driven this car about 150 miles, it should be driven, not parked. I"m setting the Buy it Now price at a very low $12,500 and added the Best Offer option as well. Someone will get a nice car for a very good price (i have over $19k into this car, but putting in a swimming pool). Car is sold "as-is" and shipping, taxes handling etc is up to the buyer, I will assist your shipper. Title is in my name, recent SMOG, tags valid for 2 years. Must be paid in full before the car goes anywhere. If you"re in Brentwood, Santa Monica area, please come by and check it out.
