Up for a NO RESERVE auction is a rare 1996 Dodge 3500 B series van (RAM Van) converted to 4 wheel drive by the legendary Quigley Motor Company in Manchester,PA a leader in 4x4 van conversions for decades. The Colorado Red van has spent its life wandering the magnificent Colorado Rockies from the resort town of Vail, CO to Crested Butte, CO. This is not just another Dodge B series van nor is this some backyard mechanic 4x4 conversion. This van was specifically ordered from the factory as an extended 1 ton 3500 model as well designated to be converted by Quigley Motor Company with a fully factory 60k mile warrantee when new. In 1996 this was one of the most expensive vans you could buy, and probably one of the most expensive 4x4 vehicles at the time. Today a comparable extended high top 4x4 van would cost you over $100k. This is great opportunity to obtain a van to build to your specific needs whether its the ultimate overland vehicle or motorcycle hauler. This van is capable to take you and live comfortable anywhere. This is a quality build by one if not the most reputable 4x4 van conversion companies in the business and is essentially a blank canvas ripe for a creative inspiration to build one of the coolest vehicles on land. This van comes with a clean carfax with a good history report.
Cosmetically the van is in fair shape. The body does have bumps and bruises, however most of them are relegated to individual doors and not so much the body itself. All the doors are readily available and can be replaced or fixed which would essentially take away the majority of the cosmetic flaws. There is 1 rust spot of the drivers side under the passenger door. It is important to note what you see is what you get, there are no hidden surprises. Matter of fact the underneath is in fantastic shape with no rust what so ever, even the original red paint is visible on the entire underside. All of the Aluminum casings of the transfer case and transmission are clean and not full of gunk and oil, a clear sign the van was well maintained. All of the axles and frame are in good shape as well. The high top is in great shape and does not leak.
Step inside the van and you will find an interior that is in great shape. 90s era Chrysler products were never known for they"re exceptional quality and the fact this interior is in such good shape after almost 25 years is impressive. There is only one tear in the drivers seat otherwise every seat is in great shape. The dash is in great shape with no cracks. The original stereo has been replaced with a good Pioneer system complete with Bluetooth, Satellite radio as well as a functional backup camera which is extremely helpful with a vehicle of this size. The high top is a bonus and makes walking around this behemoth quite easy as well as room for potential upgrades.
Mechanically this van is in great shape. The Magnum 5.9 fires up every time and runs great. The Magnum 5.9 is a fantastic powerplant and is the most desirable petrol powered option you could find. The transmission shifts into all gears and the brakes stop this monster easily. Whether you"re cruising 75 mph down the highway or climbing thousands of feet of elevation on a dirt path this van will take you anywhere you want to go.
