Vehicle description
Up for sale is my 1996 Chevrolet Impala SS. The car is listed in FAIR condition. Black (original color code was SOB - standard onyx black) Grey leather interior. 95,600 miles and that will likely fluctuate a small amount upward over the July 4th holiday. VIN: 1G1BL52PXTR184699 Flowmaster Cat-back exhaust system 1990"s F-body shifter handle swapped in for the original Impala SS unit. The original was worn and will be included with the car. New front shocks (front suspension was sagging when I purchased it) I have new rear shocks for the car. Was going to put them on at the same time I did the fronts, but I ran out of time that day and haven"t had another shop day to put them on. New stabilizer end links (car swayed a bit when I bought it. I"ve been replacing items as I go) Transmission was rebuilt in March of 2018. New stereo head unit (car did not have a radio when purchased)
The Good: True Impala SS. I utilized a VIN search that determines if these cars are the real deal or a Caprice that"s been made into a clone. That printout will be included in the sale. The VIN search detailed that the car was built on 10/31/1996, so it"s near the very end of the run of these cars. LT-1 engine rated at 260 hp / 330 lb ft torque GM 4L60-E transmission (4 speed automatic) Engine pulls strong, sounds good, car drives as it should. Vehicle hasn"t been chopped up for large wheels/tires as a lot of these have.
The Bad: Paint job is a 15 footer. The car was repainted at some point in its lifetime, and it looks to have been a pretty cheap paint job. Fuel gauge works intermittently (I"ve researched this and the issue is the AC Delco unit that is original to these cars. Apparently this is a widely experienced issue.) Tires on it are older tires. They still have plenty of tread, but they are older tires. Small ding in the hood (pictured). Front passenger seat has a rip in the seat cushion. Front driver side side can be seen worn slightly. Power antenna does not function at the moment. This will be repaired before the conclusion of the auction. There are small "odds and ends" junkyard items that I would want on the car if I kept it. Things like a couple plastic end caps on the pull handles are gone. One of the seat belt retaining holder caps (that mount up above the door and hold the shoulder belt to the B pillar) is not in place. I have it and will likely put it on before the sale. If not, it will be included. Overall small "odds and ends".
I am selling this because I have another project that I"m taking on and I need the garage space.
