This car was originally bought new by my brother Bertis Downs, longtime attorney/ manager for alternative rock band r.e.m. After driving the car for several months, he gave the car to our mother Ann. My mother drove the car until early 2012. It was always dealer maintained during this time. I began driving the car around March 2012 and took title in 2014.
The photos show that the car was loved. However, it is 22 years old and has cosmetic flaws. I just came back from a 3 day trip to the mountains and it performed beautifully. The car accelerates well and brakes well but I did notice there is some pulsating in front brakes when stopping quickly. Could be rotors need resurfacing. The display for the radio/ cd player is not operational but the radio does work. The heater works well but I"ve been told the heater box needs replacing. The air conditioning works but needs freon. The driver side door does not lock, the driver"s window is pinned closed. The other 3 windows are functional. The driver"s seat upholstery needs repair. The engine is in great shape but is slightly louder than the norm, probably a small leak in the manifold. Car comes with 2 keys,the ends of both keys have broken off but are still operational.
I call it an easy restoration, own a one of a kind collectible. In 1995, r.e.m. was at the pinnacle of it"s career and had a very successful Monster world tour.
