Most of the folks looking at this auction already know what this special vehicle is all about. For those not aware of how important and exclusive the Ford "R" cars are, really need to check out the SVT Performance website along with the myriad of articles on the 1995 R. Ebay no longer allows links in the description so I could not include them. They are easy enough to find however. . . To be brief, throughout Ford"s history the performance division has built a limited number of factory "R" cars. "R" represents "Race". Ford"s leadership considers the racing effort a vital part of the automotive business. Race on Sunday - Sell on Monday. Mustang "R" production has happened in 1965, 1993, 1995 and 2000 in very limited numbers. Currently an R package is available for the new gen Mustangs however, with much higher production numbers. What makes the 1995 R unique is the fact Ford would NOT sell this car to anyone without a racing license and had to show plans to compete in IMSA, SCCA, NHRA or IHRA competition. Many did see competition and were extremely successful. The "R" COMPETITION OPTION as noted on the window sticker is pure performance. It added $13,699 to the Manufacturer"s Retail Price (Base Price: 1995 Mustang Coupe - $14,330!) Make no mistake these are very important historic vehicles. They are integral to any serious Ford collection.
This "95 Cobra "R" for sale: Time Capsule - Benchmark Class
Assembled on 03/01/95 this vehicle is #94 of 250 built. It was delivered to H. P. Motors in Omaha Nebraska March 15, 1995. The car stayed in Nebraska until we purchased it in February of 2005. What separates this particular R from the rest is the fact it was never dealer prepped. It is exactly as it was when it left the factory in 1995. We purchased this car in 2005 with 45 miles on t he odometer. The odo currently shows 737 miles. It has never seen rain. Every piece of documentation is still intact from when it left the factory. This includes crayon marks, inspection tags, sign-off placards etc. This car has a clean title, Carfax, Autocheck and no stories history. This ultra-rare example is considered a "Benchmark Car" - an important, historically preserved OEM vehicle that is used as a template to compare against other 1995 R models for authenticating and documenting purposes. I cannot begin to list all the really interesting original artifacts attached to this car. It is arguably the most factory documented 1995 Cobra "R" in existence.
Here are just a few items. . . . . . . . .
* At 48 miles the as-new original wheels/tires were removed and black-bag stored in a climate controlled environment. They have recently been reinstalled. The tires are not dry-rotted or cracked in any way and the wheels are in as-new condition. * This includes the rare original grey valve stem caps. The original lime-green wheel inspection tabs are also included (preserved in plackard/tag bag in trunk). * Original spare tire * Original unopened tire changing wrench and equipment bag. * The delivery seat protection bags are included but not installed. They are in a sealed bag in the trunk * Authentic and in place door handle and carpet covers. * The crayon marks on the windows have been preserved via clear laminate-protection. NOTE: This is particularly interesting. I have never seen the above crayon marks on any other cars except in factory pictures.
* As above mentioned the myriad of of attached tags, stamps and stickers * Engine compartment equipment is 100% untouched and original including markings and tags. * Original windshield wiper blades. * Koni Shock adjustment tool
Some items have been removed and carefully stored for preservation or future usage purposes. Here is a list of some of those items:
* Original Motorcraft battery * Original (grey) Motorcraft oil filter * Original Motorcraft air filter * Glenn"s Performance Cobra R original spec aluminum fuel (cell) tank. Original Fuel Safe tank included with sale. This tank replicates the original fuel cell without having to ever replace the blatter. * Both sets of original keys with factory aluminum replacement ID tag. * Original unused (30 miles) exhaust system. There is currently a custom stainless steel Flowmaster system installed - sounds fantastic, I didn"t change it for that reason. * * * Also included is every piece of Ford, SVT and ownership documentation from the MSO forward. Some of the literature is priceless since they were only printed for 250 vehicles (see picture)
The vehicle fires up immediately and runs smoothly. All suspension, braking, steering and driveline systems work as factory new. No smoke, overheating or leaks.
