Vehicle description
This M998A1 was purchased from the Alabama US Army National Guard in Saraland (Montgomery) in January of 2018. The original markings show that it was the truck of a Master Sergeant for the last chapter of its military life. The overall condition of the truck was good/very good, with the mechanical condition being excellent. The CARC paint was dated "2013" and based on the very good overall condition, I believe that the truck may have undergone some level of mechanical overhaul at that point (the truck was not tagged with an MWO or other placard to verify though)
Since the purchase, the truck has undergone nearly a full restoration that is correct as possible to the original truck as it would have rolled off the assembly line in 1992. No expense or detailed was spared to bring the truck to as like-new and original condition as possible. The completeness of the restoration is extremely well documented with over 1000 photos and over $30K in receipts for replacement parts. The original parts that were removed and replaced are also available and come with the truck if the buyer would like them. This includes the unrestored items to convert it to a 2-man variant.
All soft parts, hardware, bolts, screw nuts and fasteners are correct and MIL Spec. All cosmetic and mechanical parts that were replaced were either new original AM General MIL SPEC or NOS parts. The exception is the rear half shafts which are MIL SPEC quality and the two batteries which are MIL SPEC as well. In addition, the truck has a few Modification Work Orders (MWO) that were installed by the US National Guard to improve the truck"s safety and capability. This includes the 3-point seat belt conversion and rear support to enable towing. I have also upgraded the wheels to the newer 24 bolt spec to improve handling and safety. All lighting has also been upgraded to the new LED equipment.
Condition: Paint 9/10 (2019, NON CARC) Mechanical 9/10 Cosmetic 9.5/10 Overall 9.5/10
I want things done correctly and perfect as possible. This build is done correctly that and that"s why it took three years to get it right and correct. There are no home-depot bolts, cupholders, cell phone adapters, rhino-liner, underbody spray, JC Whitney seats or RV windows installed on this truck. It"s not perfect but it"s an excellent example, original and mechanically it"s solid.
If you"re looking for a HMMWV that is going to seriously impress at car shows and parades or you just want an unmolested M998 to add to your collection then this is the truck for you. I"ve spent close to 400 hours on it and it"s very close to how it rolled off the line when it was new. You will be hard pressed to find a better or more correct M998 on the market.
Legally titled, road legal, road safe and a great driver
I paid about $1 / mile for shipping. That is probably a fairly good budget number to figure shipping to your location. Ships from 33919
NO EXPORT. NO LOW BALLS. NO BS. :)
