Vehicle description
Vehicle Details Up for sale is a rare example of an unmolested 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo. I am the 3rd owner and bought this car in July 2020. The original owner lived in SoCal and owner prior to me lived in the bay area. As far as I know, the car has never been out of California. As a result, the undercarriage is spotless, there is no rust or other signs of "weather exposure."The engine is all original and runs flawlessly. The 5 speed transmission shifts smoothly without any issues. The clutch feels firm. There have been a few tasteful mods by the prior owners such as a Greddy dual exhaust. A cold air intake and aftermarket intercooler. The prior owner also installed BC coliovers all around and had the suspension tuned to perfection (have documentation.) There are Cusco strut bracing in front and back (see photos). Since I purchased the car, I have added an EMS, in-dash digital boost gauge as well as a Twos-R-Us manual boost controller. Most recently I installed a keyless entry system with a push to start button. As you approach the car with the fob in your pocket, the car unlocks. The push button start works perfectly. The car automatically locks as you walk away. I did not cut any wires when installing this, so it can be put back to original in about 15 minutes if desired. As you can see in the photos, the prior owner installed as gas strut for the engine compartment and removed the rain shield to allow for better heat dissipation. With the exception of the exahust, all of the original parts are included in the sale. So if desired, the new owner can put the car entirely back to stock. Prior to me purchasing the car, a complete service was done in May 2017 (142K miles) including timing belt and water pump replacement. The car has been meticulously well maintained and there are records to docuement this. I have all maintence records dating back to April 2000 (61,000 miles). The car leaks absolutely no oil or other fluids, there are no weird smells, etc.As you can see, the car is in exceptionally clean condition. There are a few minor dings and chips on the original factory paint and pinstriping. I have tried to capture the few door dings in the photos but they are as hard to see from 5 feet away as they are to photograph. There is some minor fading to the front and rear bumpers but the car looks beautiful. The emerald color is rare in an MR2 and really stands out. There is a scratch in the driver's door window. It likely could be polished out. The "frunk" is also immaculate as you can see in the photos. The unused spare tire holds pressure without issue. The T-tops operate perfectly and have the original sun covers. There are no leaks (although I've never driven the car in the rain.). When I wash the car, no water seeps in. I purchased reproduction storage bags for the T-tops from MR2 Heaven that are included. Also included is a custom fit car cover. On the rare occasion that I don't keep the car in my garage, the cover works well to keep out dirt and moisture. The original owner had the AC converted to r134a. The AC works perfectly and blows ice cold. The original stereo still functions well although the LED numbers that indicate the radio station seem to fade intermittently. The stereo is the premium upgrade complete with the sub-woofer behind the driver's seat. The only issue I have been able to find with this car is that the trip odometer does not function. The mileage odometer and speedometer work fine and are accurate. You might ask why would I sell this car? The answer is that I have too many car "projects" at present time. My garage is full. I like to tinker and fix cars and this car doesn't need anything done. Since I purchased it last July, I have put less than 500 miles on it. I just can justify keeping it so I am hoping to sell it to another MR2 affectionado who will appreciate all that this car has to offer. I am located in the SF bay area. If you are local, I'd be glad to show you the car. If you are not, I am happy to facilitate whatever shipping or pick up you arrange. The car could definitely make a long trip right now without any problems. Please ask any questions that you might have BEFORE bidding. Do not put in an offer if you don't actually intend to purchase the vehicle. I have had this happen to my auctions in the past, so don't do it. If you DO want to buy this car, then go for it! !Thanks for looking! Images Download the Motors app
