Vehicle description
Mercedes-Benz SL-Class.
This classic luxury sports car has been garaged, covered and well cared for by its two owners. The current owner had little time to enjoy it and has decided to let it go to a new home. It is an ideal car for an aficionado who can give it TLC, enjoy a great little car, or perhaps restore it as a true showpiece. To that end the Seller has already conducted both a Pre-Buy Inspection and done a CarFax search.
The PreBuy inspection by Autowerks Inc, Mercedes specialist in Pinehurst NC, found the car safe, sound and roadworthy. The clean CarFax affirmed eBay"s clodition report. Both noted no collision damage and that vehicle is current on annual service and required inspections. Lack of use is the Seller"s prime reason and motivation for maketing this jewel. This is a full-disclosure sale. In that regard, Seller notes that Instrumentation and engine gauges work perfect except for the Odometer and Trip Meter which are inop and reflect 115,491 miles. Seller estimates less than 1000 miles have been driven beyond that, confirming the lack of use. While the car does look awesome sitting still, the real pleasure is top-down, joy riding in a magnificent little red convertible.
This car certainly demonstrates the awesome power, performance and handling expected from an SL-500. Its black convertible top and Kuhmo tires are both near new and in perfect shape. The tan leather interior and carpets defy their age and reflect the exceptional care given this 29-year-old car. Minor interior cosmetic touches are needed along with reattachment of one visor mirror cover, and reassembly of the console storage compartment - the needed parts are included with sale. Because of odo/trip, cosmetics, and minor work, sale will be “as-is” with those costs already reflected in the asking price. Of special note: the Car cover, Owner"s Manual and Mercedes Tool Kit are included in sale. There is no hard top with the car.
This vehicle was built in Stuttgart Germany to U.S. specs in 1990 and bears the data plate confirming "This Vehicle conforms to all applicable U.S. Motor Vehicle Safety, Bumper and Theft Prevention Standards in effect on the date of Manufacture." Vehicle was originally sold in the USA in February 1991, and subsequently to present owner in August 2007.
