Vehicle description
We present for sale a fully restored Kastenwagen from 1991. Originally, the car came from the Danish army, where it was adapted as a command vehicle. Thanks to this, its course was very small. We decided to restore it to the state when it left the factory in Austria in 1989. We disassembled it to the smallest pices The body was sandblasted, all corrosion centers were repaired and tinned. We have re[ainted it to the original Olive Nato green color. The frame, after sandblasting, was painted with epoxy sea paint and thoroughly waxed. All the suspension rubbers have been replaced, the axels have also been sanded and covered with industrial paint. Axels sealed and replaced all bearings. When assembling the frame, we put new brake hoses and installed new bilstein shock absorbers. All bolts are gold-plated and all seals are new. The engine, which was in perfect condition, was sealed and put aside. The injection pump has been serviced and adjusted. To add some style to it, we used original Mercedes 15 inch rims with new Bridgestone tires, and the original widenings completed everything. All metal elements have been polished and powder coated. In the interior, the front seats were given a new material and the rear of the original bodywork was refreshed with a new varnish for wood.
The end result is great in my humble opinion. It is a collector"s condition and driving it makes me smile every time. In this version, the axels are factory-equipped with a faster ratio. That is why driving is very comfortable both in city traffic and on the motorway. A great car to use it on expeditions. After mounting the ruff rack and tent You are ready to set off into the unknown. The driving qualities of the Mercedes gclass do not need to be advertised and because the suspension and drivetrain are new, the handling is perfect. When I drove for the first time after completing the build impresion was that the cr is new.
