Vehicle description

1990 VW WESTFALIA FULL CAMPER In the sought after ORLY BLUE color! It is a ONE OWNER VAN Plus me, (with only 161k miles and only 17k on engine! It has an upgraded engine, TIICO I-4 Jetta engine. This is considered the best Vanagon vintage to get being a late model, 90,91 which are the same but have many subtle differences from earlier models. Being a full camper it has a 2 burner propane stove, 3 way refrigerator (A.C., D.C. and propane) with the original ice cube trays, many storage cabinets, 2 tables for dining, a sink that uses the onboard water tank with a new electric pump or connects to a city water hookup on the side. It also has a A.C. wiring side hookup and 3 inside A.C. outlets! Has 2 sliding side windows with screens, a screen for the rear hatch and a pop top with 3 screens and a double bed. A rear bench seat that folds out into a bed and it sleeps a total of 4 adults! It was bought new in Washington state and has lived all around the country. I was given a stack of receipts when I bought it dating back to 1990 including the original window sticker! It has been completely gone through the past couple years since I purchased it and new parts have just been in service a couple of months! Here are the details. It was a structurally solid van but has had repair panels installed in the typical areas that these all seem to need. Any rust was cut out and treated with chem prime, painted with epoxy before mig welding the new replacement panel on, body seams have also been done properly! Again coated with epoxy, urethane seam sealer and undercoating. The body was painted in the original color of Orly Blue in the Base coat, Clear coat formula which costs more but is durable and shines beautifully! Below the side body line has been texture coated with 3M body Shutz before being painted to protect the lower body from rocks and dirt as you would encounter with campgrounds. The original bumpers have been sanded and painted with the Dull black bumper coating along with the outside door handles, wiper arms, vents, grills etc as it was originally. It has a new Go Westy pop top lift assist gas spring setup which makes raising the top a lot easier and a new pop top canvas is the 3 window style to add ventilation in the gray color as original, also the complete pop top as well as the front luggage rack and the area surrounding the poptop that is hidden when top is down has been painted along with the body, something most people forget or dont bother to do. The hold down clips on the luggage rack and mounting screws have been replaced with stainless ones! All outer body stickers and camper connection labels have been replaced as original. Items replaced by the previous owner are. Brand new Tiico Jetta engine installed in 2007 at 144,000 miles so it only has about 17k miles on it! This engine setup is far superior to the original waterboxer which makes this van a pleasure to drive! No more getting into the slow lane and letting everyone go by. It accelerates easily up hill, goes right up to cruising speed on the highway effortlessly and is considered a bullet proof engine! Plus if you ever need work done while your on the road, pull into any VW dealer and they will know what to do and be able to get any part. .not so if you have a Subaru conversion! I dont know if you would go to a Japanese shop or German shop? it also has a serpentine drive belt kit, A/C connected to new engine but is not currently blowing cold. Might need a charge? Front end balljoints, tie rods, rebuilt steering rack, brake rotors, rear drums have low miles. The propane tank was replaced but had some surface rust, so I sanded it , coated with epoxy and a new coat of white, skylight cover with seal and opening mechanism, trim peice and too many other small items to list. I had wanted a late model Vanagon Westy in this color for a long time and when I got it my goal was to build a keeper but reality requires the need to sell it. This is what I have done: replaced All steel and rubber brake lines, emergency brake cables, rear backing plates, wheel cylinders, both calipers with brake shoes and pads, clutch slave cylinder, rubber flex hose and steel connector line. Both rear trailing arms had some deep rust pitts so I replaced them with a pr of like new ones, from CA. sandblasted them, epoxy painted and 3M rubber undercoated them, Installed new rear springs and 4 new Bilstein HD shocks, it rides like new! New mostly stainless exhaust system, new catalytic convertor, oxy sensor, muffler and tailpipe manifold, flex connector all coated with Hirsch exhaust paint. New Fuel tank painted with 2 coats of epoxy with new sender, all evaporator vent piping, seals and new fuel line back to engine with all connecting rubber lines new as well as fuel filter, filler surround trim and a locking gas cap. The power steering lines were replaced with construction grade hoses from steeering rack back to the pump on the engine. It has the headlight upgrade kit which includes higher wattage H4 bulbs, better headlight ground connections and relays for both high and low beams. They are very bright now! Hella yellow fog lights are on the front bumper as they would have been if you got them from a dealer when new. Also I have installed LED bulbs in instrument panel, interior lights as well as adding led light strip to glove box so you can actually see whats in there at night, over stove, over rear part of bed which is also convenient for loading luggage, arranging the bed at night and completely lights up the engine bay when the cover is removed and a small reading light on the wall in the lower bed and side marker lights. These all are very bright as compared to the pathetic original lighting. All electric outlets inside have been replaced and one added so it is accessible with the bed folded out. This makes it easier to plug in phone, coffee pot, microwave or whatever! The fresh water tank pump, fill hose, drain trap and drain hose , and line from tank to sink are all new. The original fiberglass insulation behind the kitchen area tends to hold moisture so it has been removed and replaced with thinner plastic bubble style insulation! The refrigerator has had service done to the burn pot which will help make it light easier and has electronic igniter, something standard on late models. Has had 2 quiet computer fans added to the rear cooling fins to increase its efficiency. It is spotless inside and doesnt look like it has been used much! I put in a hot water shut off for the front heater to stop the "Hot foot" situation driving in the summer. Also I was told the upper bed was never used and it looks and smells factory fresh! The odometer now reads 161 k and the engine only has about 17 k on it. The tires are almost new, it has the factory alloy wheels with new valve stems and new chrome lug nuts and center caps. 4 new mud flaps. I have used as much stainless hardware assemblying exhaust, bumpers, brackets etc as i could! All the original curtains have been removed and laundered and look great, no stains or rips! All original seats and carpets have been cleaned with Upholstery cleaning machine and are in great condition with no rips etc. It has a brand new pr of Go Westy HD front floor mats and a new pc of gray carpeting for the rear floor to keep the original rear carpet nice! There are a couple small cracks in front door panels. The front snap in curtain and rear tailgate screen are also included and has a screen/ curtain for the skylight also. Being a 29 year old van there are absolutely no warranties, no returns whatsoever. It has passed a state safety inspection. It is sold as is, where is . Know what you are buying. This is advertised elsewhere also. Please get permission from significant other before buying. Just took it camping at a LIMBO event, Buses by the Buoy in Maine and put on a few hundred miles. It is a pleasure to drive and feels like NEW! I have a stack of receipts that go with this van including the one from FAS in Maine who installed the engine with the odometer reading when it was installed! Also the original VW Manuals and factory window sticker! Deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. (No Exceptions) Paypal ok for deposit. Balance due and vehicle picked up within 7 days of auction end.
I also have a pair of Vakima roof racks with key and brackets to attach to the side of the pop top for Canoes, Kyacks or luggage carriers and a box of misc parts that go with it.
