Vehicle description
Car has been my daily driver for the past months. Its a super clean body, car spent its life in New Mexico, so there"s no rust. Has dual Solex carb conversion and standard distributor conversion, so anybody with a hint of how cars work can pretty much keep in running forever. The paint is the original color, but its been re-sprayed at some point in its life. Its a great car to drive and people love it everywhere I go. Its been back dated, the rear bumper, wheels and mirrors are from an "83. The door panels, mechanisms, arm rests and carpet and from a 1974 164. The front seats have been re-dyed black. Car has all the typical 240 stuff that we"ve come to know and love, Odometer, radio and gas gauge don"t work, has various cracked or missing plastic pieces, cracked dash, a couple of door handles work when the feel like it, and the front struts or bushings are loud so would need replaced at some point but you can drive it. Car was originally a 5 speed manual car, it currently runs an AW70 Automatic, the stick pedals are still there in case someone would want to convert it back to stick at some point. Exhaust was new about 2 months ago. Motor mounts replaced, trans was flushed twice and the pan cleaned painstakingly both times, water pump is new, coolant flushed and new, carbs rebuilt, new points, coil and resistor. Tires are definitely drivable for a while but are nothing to write home about. Keep in mind, this is an old, carbureted car, and its functions as one, I"ve been daily driving it, but its cold natured and you have to be patient with letting it warm up, it hates cold mornings like every carbureted car. I run only ethanol free gas in the car. Has around 183k miles or so but not really sure. It has the typical B230 piston slap when cold, but definitely not as bad as a lot of them do. I wouldn"t hesitate to drive the car across the country tomorrow if I had to, that being said, I know my way around an old car, I suggest this car to go to another Volvo person or general gearhead, its not really a car that you just buy for you 16 year old daughter to drive to high school. There"s a dent in the right fender by the door that you can notice if you look for it, and a small one in left front corner where the hockey stick is missing, has some dings and whatnot in various places like you would expect on a 30 year old car.
