Vehicle description

I am relisting my truck as a non-paying bidder won the auction, and then never contacted me and I really want to sell this truck. I have two of them and only need one. This is a 1990 Dodge Dakota Sport Convertible pickup truck. That"s right! a factory convertible pickup truck. These trucks are very rare and picked by Hagerty to be a first-rate collectible. They only built about 2,400 of these trucks for 1989 and 1990, with some left-overs in 1991. Hard to believe, and you will get attention and questions anytime you go anywhere, but this is a factory convertible pickup - the first since the 1920"s Model T. By the way, Hagerty only charges $150 annually for full insurance coverage - and I mean full coverage. I have it insured for $12,000 and they feel that is a very fair value.
This car has all the options available for that year, except for four-wheel-drive, and the only reason I am selling it is that I finally found a 4-wheel-drive convertible pickup and bought it. I just don"t need two identical Dakotas so I am selling this one. It has personalized plates reading GR8 TRK, because it is a great truck.
It appears to have factory paint and decals, at least it matches all the pictures in the 1990 brochure exactly, and it has the rare bucket seats and console. They usually came with a bench seat, but the buckets are much more comfortable. It also has the adjustable steering wheel. I bought this car last year and flew in and drove it home 1800 miles, knowing I would have no trouble - and I didn"t.
Not only is it a conversation piece, it"s just a very nice truck. It seems to be just the right size, even here in Texas where bigger is better, and it has the peppy 3.9 Liter V6, which has been shown to be bullet-proof and long lasting. It needs nothing. I have just serviced it fully, changed belts, hoses, and installed an aluminum radiator so it runs very cool, even in the Texas summers with the excellent AC working. It has no rust anywhere at all. The body is straight and relatively dent-free.
You can look these trucks up online and get a fuller description, but they are hard to come by, very quickly sold when available, and just a lot of fun to drive. My neighbor, who had a very low mileage one (16,500 miles) just sold his for $24,500 in October. His was white, not the most popular color, and needed a top. There is one on currently at $13,995. Mine needs nothing. It shows no rust anywhere and still has the hard-to-find spare tire hoist mechanism under the bed.
After full payment, I will be glad to store the car for free until you can arrange shipping, or you can fly in and drive it home, as I did. I can pick you up at IAH (Houston Intercontinental Airport). It is always stored in a closed garage, as you can see from the pictures. I need a deposit upon close of auction and the balance wire transferred within 7 days. I will do all I can to help with your shipping arrangements. Of course, it is sold without warranty as it is 30 years old this year. But you knew that!
It may have a little more mileage when you get it as I drive it daily. Sorry for the dirt, but it had been raining when I took the pictures. It has been professionally detailed and it"s sparkling clean now!
