About this vehicle This 1990 Chevrolet Corvette is an original. The owner has had it for 3 years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for car shows. Vehicle Details VIN: 1G1YY338CL5105328 This car has been driven an average of 245 miles per year for 31 years. .think about that ! Here is what I know, this car was purchased brand new in California. It was manufactured in November of 1989 at the Bowling Green KY plant. It was a 1 owner car until the the owner passed away, at which time, the owners daughter took possession of the vehicle. She lived in Pennsylvania and the car was shipped to her. At some point, the tires and headlight door gears were replaced. For obvious reasons, the tires were replaced with BF Goodrich GForce Comp2 (P275-40ZR17) not for wear, but because of age. The headlight door gears were replaced because the original vinyl gears were known for failure and brass gears are now in place. It appears that the black convertible top has never been in the up position. There is a soft towel or sheet between the folded plastic window to prevent scratching. I cannot verify it has not been used, but it appears unused. Tune up parts include new rotor, cap and plugs and injectors. New gaskets and wiper blades, and a new battery. The owners daughter had no interest in the car and I purchased it. I have driven the car about 200 miles since I bought it. Mostly to a show now and then or Dairy Queen on a nice evening. I have taken the hard top off once. It is not an easy task, so after I put it back on, I decided to leave it in place. I suppose once you are familiar with the removal and installation procedure, it’s gets much easier, but I actually like the cars appearance with the hardtop in place. The 350 cubic inch, 245hp L98 engine pulls smoothly and the 6sp manual shifts nicely through the gears. I know a lot of owners of these cars installed the “Skip-shift delete” , but this car will still go from 1st to 4th if you don’t give it a little gas while you are accelerating. Not a huge deal, I never found it to be intrusive. These cars have lots or torque for the day. Don’t let the horsepower rating fool you, they can get out of their own way. I have never “opened her up”. I never felt the need to beat on a 31 year old classic. I’m not going to quote numbers, but I did a little research. The Steel Blue is a gorgeous color, but was not a color that was mass produced. Add to that the car being a convertible (WITH THE HARD TOP OPTION) and a 6 speed, and this is a pretty rare car as it was made from GM. You can run your own numbers, but this car as it sits is a very low volume corvette. Here is what GM has posted. Total 1990 corvette production: 26,410. I had thought about doing a more aggressive muffler, but chose to leave the original on the car. The black leather seats and steering wheel are all in great shape. Not the usual cracking and creasing you are used to seeing on a 31 year old car. The interior leather and carpets are original and in great shape. The weatherstripping appears in great shape with no sign of deterioration. All the glass is in very nice original condition with no defects. The wheels have no oxidation or curb rash and the underside is free of any surface rust. The car will come with lots of extras. . The factory wrench for hardtop removal The original California license plate The factory GM and Corvette cassette tapes (in original cellophane NEVER OPENED ! !) The Corvette Emergency Key Factory wheel lock kit Factory tool kit(ratchet, extension and air gauge) Gas receipts from when the car was new Factory 1990 Corvette brochure Many books and literature and extras. I was told the power radio antenna goes up, but may not come down. I keep a cover on the car in my garage (included with sale) and I did not want to poke a hole in the cover if the antenna got stuck in the up position. The antenna may work, or not. . I never tried the radio. Either way it may be an easy fix. All original, low mileage C4 Vettes are already appreciating quickly. This one is a standout example because of the options, condition and low mileage. Please “ASK SELLER A QUESTION” if I left out anything you need to know and I’ll do my best to answer it.
