1990 AcuraLegend Coupe L final year of the original flagship coupe that launched Acura.The 1 st and only Legend that actually is a legend made by a legend Soichiro Honda. The ultimate color combination red with Ivoryleather interior (a very Italian sports car combination) 24 valve V6 motor(Honda Corps. 1 st production V6) Automatic trans. One owner 30years, Acura Dealership serviced 30 years. 100% original paint. Every collectorknows “it’s only original once.” Only 148k original miles. I’ve seen a coupleLegend Coupes for sale in the last year with a little less miles (for somereason they always said odometer “shows” x miles as if they aren’t sure) butnever red. Everything works perfectly (the only exception is the power antenna doesn’tretract the last few inches) and drives as new. Garaged every single night ofits life. Hand washed weekly and monthly professionally detailed. The best wayto have a clean car is to never let it get dirty. Original paint, body isstraight as an arrow with the exception of a small dent near the front of thehood. (I’m told it is well within the scope of paintless dent repair such asDent Wizard. Leather interior is excellent with passenger front seat and rearseat leather showroom new, driver’s seat does show some wear. Original AcuraAM/FM cassette, original Acura carpet mats and Acura wheel locks. Originalspare has never been out of the trunk. Within the last 6 months 4 new tires,new brakes and factory Acura battery. Drove over 600 mile trip a few weeks ago,drives as new, lots of attention. A littleAcura/Honda history. The Acura brand was started in America to sell Legends.Honda didn’t decide to start a new company to sell high end Hondas, theydeveloped the Legend and decided they needed a separate company to sell them.No Legend-No Acura! Also, Toyotaand Nissan got the idea of a separate company for their higher end/up marketcars from Acura. So in other words, no original Legend, No Acura, No Lexus andNo Infiniti! This car changed the whole Import car landscape in America. That iswhy the Legend Coupe was Motor Trends Import Car Of The Year 1987 and on Carand Driver’s 10 Best list 1988, 1989, and 1990. Acura also won the JD PowerCustomer Satisfaction award 1987, 1988, 1989 and 1990. This cars impact onAmerica was so great that the Automotive Hall of Fame (in Detroit) inductedSoichiro Honda in 1989 largely because of the Acura Legend. In fact, the car isnamed after him. He was known as the Legend. This car is named for him just asFerrari named the Enzo after Enzo Ferrari. 1990 was thefinal year of the original Legend Coupe. This car was 8/90 production datemaking it one of the last produced as the 1991 2 nd generation waslaunched shortly after in 10/90. 1990 also was the 1 st year of theNSX, wearing its NSX red paint (basically every 1990 NSX you will ever see wassold in this same red) you will see the definite family resemblance. Unfortunatelydue to failing health Sorchiro Honda (The Legend) had very little to do with theredesign and development of the series II Legend (he passed Aug. 5 1991). Theseries II Legend was heavy, soft and generic looking and lacked the traditionalHonda rock solid reliability. No more Import Car Of The Year, No more Car andDriver 10 best List. Within a few years, with consistently falling sales theLegend was gone. My car isbeing sold with original title, original window sticker ($29,360) all books andtools, the cardboard hanging tags detailing “CRUISE CONTROL OPERATION” AND “AutomaticShift Lock Starting And Shifting Procedure.” I’m even pretty sure I have theoriginal dealership brochure.
