1989 Porsche 944 Turbo S Model (~ 92k miles) Rarely available 944 Turbo S model, one of the most storied Porsches ever made, and during its time was the fastest 4-cylinder car in production. Just over 4,100 of these were made its time was the fastest 4-cylinder car in production. Just over 4,100 of these models were made, and this model was one of the earliest cars of any type to be equipped with matching driver and passenger front airbags. making it a limited-edition collectible car. The all-original, matching numbers 2.5L inline-four is controlled by a Bosch Motronic engine management and fuel injection system, and is in excellent working order. It puts out 247hp and 258 lb-ft of torque, an original top speed of 162mph, 5-speed manual shift, and is unusually smooth across the rev range due to Porsche’s use of a pair of balancing shafts from Mistubishi. The engine has been fastidiously and professionally maintained over the last 25 years by the same independent Porsche Specialist, located in Honolulu Hawaii (Air Cooled Engines of Hawaii, Inc.). The mechanic knows this car very well and can be contacted. BRAKES & PUMP: The front and rear brakes were all replaced and have 90% brake pad remaining. The rotors are within normal limits. Water pump and timing belts as well as the belt tensioners and idler rollers were all inspected or replaced less than 6 months ago. Service records dating back from the beginning of ownership have been kept, and all regular minor and major tune-ups done. Current owner is only the second owner, and has owned the car for close to 25 years. PAINT: Car still has the original Porsche “Guard Red” paint. The clear coat on the factory paint has begun to peel over time, but I made the decision to leave the original paint in as-is condition because practically the entire car, with the exception of front left fender, is factory original paint. Car interior is in good condition, and recently had the driver’s side seat re-upholstered due to normal wear & tear, otherwise all is original. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION: The engine has always run well and been maintained regularly. Everything is stock as the day it left the Porsche factory. The only modification was to remove the catalytic converter,otherwise this vehicle is all factory specificationsas most Porsche enthusiasts would appreciate.
