Vehicle description

Introducing the S-Cargo! A retro-themed delivery van designed by Naoki Sakai and built by the Nissan Pike Factory from 1989-1990.
The S-Cargo is a 3-door delivery van with right hand drive built exclusively for the Japanese market. This recently imported stock example is in excellent condition, featuring new tires, recent tune-up, yellow-top optimum battery and a 1200-watt Pioneer sound system. To date only a handful have been brought to the United States since it became legal to import in 2014. This particular example was brought to the U.S. and detailed for the current owner by Duncan Imports of Blacksburg, Virginia in April 2018 and is currently garaged in Darien, CT. It has attended several classic car shows such as Caffeine and Carburetors in New Canaan, CT, and been featured in multiple parades. This practical van also serves as a semi-daily driver around town and is capable of transporting a 660lb payload + driver comfortably along highways with a practical top speed of 85 miles per hour. Over multiple tanks of gas the average mpg was calculated to be 36 miles/gallon.
The S-Cargo features include: Folding rear seat Large center mounted speedometer High dash-mounted gear shift Large flat writing surface on dash Low rear payload floor for easy loading/unloading Low cabin floor and large door openings for easy ingress/egress Large flat side panels and tailgate- ideal for signage (see example photo) Classic Japanese license plate (curb wt: 2094lbs, width: 62.8 in, height: 73.2 in, length: 137 in) (fuel: 10.6 gallons unleaded, automatic transmission, front-wheel drive, front disk brakes)
The current odometer reading in kilometers is 98,198 (61,018 miles). The actual VIN (according to the DMV) is G20-003589 (see photo). Japan uses a combination of the Model Number and Frame Number. The reason for the non-standard VIN is because the vehicle was manufactured outside the US and wasn"t originally intended for use in the US.
The S-Cargo is regularly driven and has been serviced by S cotty"s Automotive Services in Stamford, CT. If necessary, parts can be sourced from two companies in Japan at reasonable prices. (Megazip and Amayama) Both companies delivered new oem parts to us quickly after ordering (air filter and coil). Additional service recently performed include new tires, air filter, oil/fluid change, ignition coil, EGR valve, installation of new Optima "Yellow Top" battery and headlamps. It was also necessary to install a manual switch to engage the second radiator fan which is located on the driver"s side switch panel. According to service records the timing belt was last replaced at 93,900km (2,621 miles ago) on June 14, 2013. The brakes, transmission and other mechanical items are all in good working order. One small dime-size blemish on front left fender has evidence of touch-up paint. A/C ready for recharging.
Buyers are welcome to inspect and test drive the vehicle at anytime and we will honor any reasonable request to have the car inspected by a local agent of the buyer at the buyer"s expense. (1-day notice, please) We will also honor buyer requests to have any additional/specific pictures taken (< 24-hour turnaround).
The seller has been an member since 1999 and has 100% positive feedback profile.
The New York Times dubbed the S-Cargo, along with Sakai"s Be-1, Pao, and Figaro, as being the "height of Postmodernism." So, if you want a totally unique vehicle or a delivery van that you can advertise with, and can"t afford an Andy Warhol for your living room, then the S-Cargo is for you!
