Vehicle description

Relisting as a non paying buyer decided to not take the car to Mexico. They wanted to drive it from CT to Texas first. Rare and hard to find Jaguar. My friend bought this car new in 1989. Always having multiple cars the mileage in 1999 was 15000. Driven in CT on weekends and stored when not driven. He gifted it to a friend in 1999 at a dinner party when he bought another car. The car moved to Millbrook, NY driven summers only garaged stored. I had driven it here and there when it showed up in Bridgewater at a weekend lunch or dinner. Last August I asked my friend how is the Jaguar doing. She said it was time to sell it and that she wanted me to have it. It had been garaged for five years not driven. I had it hauled by carrier from Millbrook to New Milford. That day with a fresh charge in the battery and fresh gas (the gas was stabilized) it started up and ran great. The interior and exterior look as though they are only a few years old. This model of the XJS I think is the best looking with it"s four round headlights emphasizing it"s beautiful British heritage. I installed new front shocks recently. They were not bad actually but the bushings were dry so I replaced the shock and bushing assemblies. I rebuilt the wiper motor with new brushes. This car with this mileage is highly rare in the best colors available. The exhaust seems to be original and not leaking. There are no oil leaks. About ten years ago and at that time around 22000 miles a battery shut off switch was added to not allow the battery to drain if not driven for months at a time. The spark plugs were replaced as well. The brake pads seem to have a lot of life left. They may have been replaced at that time. The work was done by a fairly famous Bentley, Rolls Royce Jaguar shop in Massachusetts. He said at the time the car was in great shape and only did what was necessary. The center veneer will need replacing as it is chipping away. That actually started in the late 1990"s. The leather seating areas and doors are as new. The carpets are as new. I love driving it and it pains me to sell it because the people that owned it are significant in my life and are happy that I have the car and love seeing it alive and on the road. With that said I have several cars and live two miles from my office so it is mostly sitting in the garage and driven about once a week around town. It deserves someone who will spend time making it a show car because it is in incredible shape. I am open to offers but not desperate to sell it. With what I see for sale I think the car is easily worth 25000 dollars in perfect condition. I have it insured with Hegarty for 18000 dollars should there be a total loss. The insurance for the year is $437. Given the minor repairs that it needs I think the car is worth easily 16000 dollars. I will add more photos this week. If you have ever driven an Aston Martin DB7 you can tell that car was bred from the XJS. The weight and feel of the car on the road. The solid steering and smooth V12 engine makes it a close second to the Aston.
