1989 Honda Civic Hatchback Base Model Manual 4 Speed Transmission with Air Conditioning. This car was bought brand new by my brother in1989 at Sanford Honda in North Carolina. When the vehicle was only one year old and parked at the grocery store a truck backed into the left rear quarter panel and caused the damage shown in the photo. The right front fender also has some damage from a later incident. The car was North Carolina Florida/Georgia/registered during most of its life. In 2012 the Honda’s Title was transferred to me and spent a few short years in Pennsylvania/ Delaware and then back again to Florida. The car had approximately 220,000 miles on the odometer when I took possession of it. I was amazed to learn after driving it that the Honda’s PGM-FI can deliver nearly 50 mpg highway. Soon after getting the car I had the Timing belt and water pump replaced. I’ve also have had a new Honda Battery, new Denso Alternator and Denso fuel pump installed. The rear brakes complete with new wheel cylinders have also been replaced. The exhaust system from the Catalytic converter back was also replaced fairly recently too. The vehicle has had a complete valve job with new valve stem seals due to a burnt exhaust valve. The exhaust valve failure seems to have been caused by excessive oil consumption which the new valve stem seals did not seem to correct. I suspect that oil control rings are the culprit. Engine compression is still good however. At any rate it uses about 1 quart of oil every 400 miles.The instrument cluster Fuel gauge and Temp Gauge DO NOT indicate correctly. The Fuel Gauge and Temp Gauge both peg when the left turn signal switch is used. Probably a bad ground in the cluster. Both door panels and Front seats need to be reupholstered. The condition of the clutch is unknown but it has been changed only once so even though it doesn’t slip it must be nearing replacement based on the mileage. The body has minimal overall rust due to it"s having spent the majority of it’s life in the South. Typically Honda’s of this vintage have significant corrosion in the wheel wells but this Honda has only minor rust in those areas. The tires are also fairly new. The car does have Factory R12 A/C but the belt was removed due to a noisy compressor bearing. I bought the new bearing but never installed it. See photos of all of the above. Happy Bidding!
