this 1st gen cummins came from sunny San Diego California, I believe it lived all of its life out there because the paint is in such good shape. Motor starts up 1st crank everytime. All the gauges work properly, odometer reads 86k but it has rolled over once, you have to account that in 89 they hadn’t added the extra number on the odo to read over 100k yet. No rust anywhere, super straight truck. Has a couple dings and scratches, I do know the driver door has had bodywork done but that’s the only panel. Now another interesting thing about this truck. it came as a 3 speed automatic (the Chrysler 727 or in the dodge applications the “a518”) the older guy who owned it had the transmission rebuilt and when he had it done he added an overdrive unit from another 518. . So it is the factory transmission now with overdrive. It is engaged by a toggle switch on the dash. You hit it when your going around 50 and bam you hit OD. When you slow down you flip it off and your back in 3rd. And it works flawlessly. The pros Ac works Power windows work Power door locks work Wipers and wiper fluid shooters work Doors open and shut very smooth and nice hood also Added overdrive Paint is in great shape All lights and side markers work Radio works All the gauges work right Cons Clear coat peeling on driver fender Driver door has bondo Driver side of seat has tear Bed is scratched up inside Tires are ok but could use replacing soon Tailgate handle won’t open tailgate, takes a little convincing Heater core is blocked off I am assuming the heater core sprung a leak. These trucks are very hard to find in this condition, I’ve never owned one this nice. It’s so nice I wouldn’t want to use it as a work truck. Very untouched original except for a different radio and speakers behind the seat. No cracks in dash. Headliner and inside trim intact, carpet is nice. And every single accessory, option and gauge works as it should . Again I do not advertise this truck as perfect or box 1 cleanest in the world. But it is a very special truck in my opinion.
