Vehicle description
Over 7k invested! Beautiful, low mileage "88 GT. I bought it at the onset of COVID as a sanity project and it has filled its purpose. The original 2.8 was suffering from bottom end noise (previous owner"s reason for selling) and it ended up being a bad thrust bearing. A 3.4 short block out of a "95 Camaro was sourced to solve the inherent weaknesses of the 2.8 and maintain a complete factory appearance (including fully intact emissions equipment), while providing a much needed power increase.
Somewhat of a no-expense-spared rebuild, complete documentation of the of the machine work and parts is included with the sale as well as a binder of receipts dating back as far as 2009 and a clean Carfax proving accurate mileage. I am also including the original short block (minus crank), replacement sail panels (the ones on the car are staring to show some age), as well as various other odds and ends such as extra lug nut covers, etc.
If I were to keep the car, I would address the following things; -Tachometer quit a few days into my ownership, I have a new tach filter for it, though I don"t know if that is the issue -AC system needs to be recharged, however it does hold vacuum and has already been converted to R134a (a new filter/dryer is included with the sale) -The passenger side output seal on the transmission is just starting to weep. Repair does not necessitate the removal of the transmission or anything like that. -Both recline handle covers on the seats as well as the driver"s side rear speaker grille have cracked/broken mounting tabs. Repair or replace -Headliner is drooping in spots -Center console seems to have had the lower portion sprayed with something that has began to show a purple hue. I removed a small portion of it (I"m assuming its vinyl interior paint) and the it looks new under it. Clean or replace -The black trim that covers the OBD port has been misplaced in my recent move. If I find it it will be included. -One exhaust stud was defective and needs replaced. Replacement included and it is readily accessible -Paint could use touch up The car has 600 trouble free miles on the swap, and had the clutch replaced and flywheel resurfaced, as well as all new fluids/maintenance items taken care of at the time of the swap (new fuel and air filters, belts, transmission fluid, etc.). It"s riding on new Cooper CS5 Ultra"s in the factory staggered tire sizes and the engine produced 141 horsepower and 198 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels. The low vehicle weight combined with perfect weight distribution and excellent lower end torque make this car a blast to drive. Roll down the windows, stick the sunroof in the frunk, and prepare yourself to be transported to a bygone era! I am happy to answer all questions and encourage them. The car can be inspected in Sandy, Utah. $500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle due within 24 hours of the auction close, with the remainder due on pickup within 7 days. I can store it for longer than 7 days if need be, but full payment will be due within 7 days of the auction close. I have sold classics to as far away as Australia, bid with confidence!
