Vehicle description
About this vehicle This 1988 Nissan 300ZX is an original. The owner has had it for 1 year. The vehicle needs work. Vehicle Details Bought last year as a project. Have done a ton of work to it but life has thrown a few curve balls this year (breast cancer and selling our house). We need a daily driver, and unfortunately she just isn’t quite there yet. The previous owner only had her for a few months as well. He did plugs, wires, rotor cap, oil change, coolant, master cylinder & I think a few other small things. We have about $6k-$6,500 invested, not including labor. I have and can include most of the receipts. Also kept old parts and have some other misc parts we can include if you want them. Here is what we’ve done & what still needs to be done, as far as I know: Timing belt Water pump Crank & cam seals Crankshaft sprocket & plate Coolant Temp Sensor & harness Thermostat Radiator hoses Serpentine belts Misc new hoses Rebuilt A/C compressor R134 conversion (Evacuated A/C system, new seals & fittings) A/C condenser A/C dryer/accumulator Battery, battery tray, tie down kit Valve cover gaskets Intake gasket Real Leather seat covers, shift & e-brake boots & console cover (have steering wheel cover but needs to be wrapped) I busted a few stitches putting on the drivers side head rest cover. Just needs to be restricted. New carpet & insulation Replaced broken driver’s sideview mirror Replaced both window regulators, motors & switches & greased tracks (have extra parts) Replaced missing rear view mirror Recovered headliner Painted, repaired, cleaned door panels Replaced missing spare tire, tire inflator & tire change kit Replaced missing foam under rear carpet Replaced broken rear hatch/fuel door cable Replaced broken hood latch New rubber seal for rear hatch Replaced factory amplifier under passenger seat (used factory amp) Bluetooth installed on factory stereo (stereo & steering wheel controls work) Floor mats from Lloyds Mats with Z31 (they wouldn’t let me put 300ZX or Z on there) Painted intake plenum cover silver (still needs red paint but I have that and clear & new screws) New tires New brake pads, rotors, kyb shocks on 3 wheels (I have left front parts that need to be installed) New brake lines & calipers on right front (I have new caliper & brake lines for left front & new brake lines for both rears that need to be installed & rebuild kit for rear calipers that I’ll include but they don’t need it, seem to be in good shape) New sway bar link on right front (have left front, needs to be installed) Have new outer tie rod ends, ball joints & bushings for both front wheels & also have lower control arm for right front. Car cannot be driven further than onto a trailer right now because right front ball joint is loose in the control arm. We might try to fix this before selling but between cancer treatments and packing/moving would really rather not. Car would need an alignment after the above suspension work is completed. Have new oil pressure sensor that isn’t installed yet. I have driven car about 30 miles. So I know it has oil pressure, but gauge doesn’t read. Front two windows need to be adjusted so they roll up a little further and make a better seal. Right now they leak where the glass meets the t-tops. The rubber seal seems good, and there is a way to adjust them so the will go up further. I think this should fix the problem. The two rear side windows need to be resealed. They both leak. The car has been garage kept since we got it and we replaced the interior. So it has been dry and never wet since we got it. I just sprayed some water on the car to test for leaks and discovered these. This is the main reason we are selling it because we don’t have time to fix this before we move, and we won’t be able to keep it inside at the next place and don’t want it to get ruined. Should be a pretty simple repair to remove and reseal those windows. The car sat for a few years before we bought it. I put a little bit of gas in it and drove it about 30 miles. It might not be a bad idea to drain and clean the fuel tank. The vacuum lines for emissions system are pretty brittle. Those should really be replaced unless you want to delete them all together. They sell a kit for this online. Left quarter panel has evidence of old repair & needs additional repair. I have that side marker light and will include it. Car has some smaller dings here and there and needs a paint job Windshield trim was off the car when I got it but I have the pieces and also new clips. A/C needs new expansion valve. We went through the rest of the system but had hoped it wouldn’t need the expansion valve but think it does. The heat works but seems to only come out the defrost. So not sure what’s going on there. The car has minimal rust as far as we could see. There is one spot under the rear carpet, but we didn’t see any other bad areas. We removed the fuze for the security system because the light kept flashing and seemed to drain the battery. I have the insulation for under the hood as well. It's in decent shape and impossible to find. I was planning to spray it with fabric paint. I have new clips for that as well. The car needs a new exhaust. That’s all I can think of. Trying to be as thorough, honest and transparent as possible. Please ask questions if you have any and I’ll do my best to answer. This could be a really nice, fun little car, and we have done so much of the hard work already. Hoping someone else can take it the rest of the way! Exterior Interior Engine Download the Motors app
