Vehicle description
1988 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC Coupe Diamond Blue Exterior/Blue Interior 1 Family Owned Miles 100% Rust Free
If you"ve been looking for a 560SEC, you know the prices are all over the place. .mainly based on miles, and general condition. I think a lot of buyers are missing the value, and where it comes in with these cars.
This car is 100% original paint and 100% rust free. It spent most of its life garaged in Tennessee. Even though it wasn"t driven much, in the past few years. .it belonged to the wife of the owner of the local Mercedes Dealer, so anything that was broke, was immediately attended to.
The timing chain and plastic guides were already done on this car. They NEED to be done on all these cars, regardless of mileage. The plastic guides get brittle with age, and with no warning, they break, and then you have valves hitting pistons, and in a matter of 3 seconds flat you are searching for a used engine. This is a $3,000 maintenance item. .and you need to take that into consideration when buying one.
This car is all original paint. I"d never buy a repainted SEC. .too much chrome. .nobody painted them like Mercedes. .and that is where the value is. Paint thickness is 4 mils in the front of the car and closer to 5 mils in the rear. This is what a original paint SEC should be.
The interior in these cars were very durable, and hold up well. The blue interiors tend to be more difficult to find nice. I"m not sure if it was the dye used in the leather or what. .but they tend to dry out and wear more easily then say a palomino interior. Fortunately, in this case, the leather is excellent, with no drying or appreciable wear on anything.
The veneers are another issue. .they tend to discolor and crack with the passage of time. These are well preserved, remain dark, crack free, and retain the original luster they came with.
The VIN tags are on all the panels and core support. No M-Dot replacement panels here.
Everything works on this car. The previous owner was completely insane about maintenance and this car was in for service for anything and anything, absolutely nothing deferred.
This car runs and drives as well as my 12k mile SEC, if not better. No smoke on start up, no issues. Even has the faint new car smell present. All original glass. .all service records (giant box)
I collect these cars and consider myself very knowledgable on them. I have been on for over 10 years and 1100 transactions, when it comes to anything, I tell it like it is.
I purchased the car from the original family and I just have too many toys. .or at least that"s what the wife says.
This car is for sale on other venues outside of eBay. . and this auction is more for advertisement purposes. I know what I have, I know what it"s worth, I know what most of the other cars on are. .and this car is the cream of the crop.
Happy to assist with shipping. I will be out of town the week of 7/4 , but will be available to answer calls and questions during that time.
Cash in person, wire transfer, bank check, personal check (must clear first)
