Vehicle description

You are viewing a 1988 Ford Ranger 4X4 Supercab XLT pickup truck. 2.9L V-6 with 5 speed manual transmission. This truck was my personal driver for the last 2+ years. I bought this truck from the state of Oregon in May 2018. I have driven it approximately 34,000 miles over that time. Clean IL title in my name. Many maintenance items were replaced during my ownership, mostly with NOS or original Ford parts. NGK spark plugs and Motorcraft plug wires, cap, and rotor installed, along with Fel-pro PermadryPlus valve cover gaskets. NOS Ford front disc brake rotors and both front brake hoses, along with remanufactured front brake calipers. NOS Ford turn signal switch. All three driveshaft universal joints replaced in the last 6000 miles. New General Grabber ATX tires along with alignment done in the last 2000 miles. I have changed the oil approximately every 5000 miles with Castrol Synthetic during my ownership, did not add any oil in between oil changes, didn"t burn any. Exhaust has been replaced from the catalytic converters back. Bluetooth Kenwood Excelon in dash CD player with 4 Kicker coaxial speakers in factory locations. The black window trim and wiper arms have been refinished in Satin black. The common drip rail sealer problems on most Rangers have been cleaned out, epoxy primed and seam sealed, and refinished.
Known issues: AC does not blow cold, needs to be converted to R134 and charged. Fuel gauge level is mostly an approximation, probably needs a sending unit installed. Starter works fine, but occasionally grinds. Function has not changed during my ownership. Small engine oil and antifreeze drips under the vehicle. During oil changes, I have never seen any antifreeze evident in oil. Every 2-3 months or so, I add a little antifreeze to reservoir. Paint condition is fair, but shines well. A good portion of the vehicle is still wearing original paint. Tailgate was replaced with an original used Ford Tailgate and refinished. LH bed side has been repainted, due to period problem of Ford paint peeling off from primer. There are numerous nicks and scratches on truck. Few chips where the paint has chipped off the primer. There are a couple of small dents on RH fender and a ding on RH door near the lock cylinder. Drivers door is showing some dings where rust is bubbling. No perforated rust. Much surface rust on the lower edges of body that should be tended to. Paint shines well and looks great going down the road. To be really nice, this truck could really use a paint job.
Very original truck and outstanding in snowy conditions. 4X4 system works fine. During warmer weather, I can usually get about 20 MPG, a little more if the whole tank is Interstate or highway driving. Winter months about 18-18.5 MPG. Not sure of the actual mileage, odometer has worked fine the entire time I have driven it. The vehicle report seemed to show some inconsistency in miles. The odometer reads straight across, approximately 98,500 miles, which is an indication on Fords that the odometer has not been rolled over. I bought it with 64,000 showing on the odometer, and there were many indications that was legit. You can make your own judgements, I am stating the miles may or may not be 98,500 or 198,500 or possibly 298,500. The condition of this truck speaks for itself, look at the underside photos. More photos of all areas available if a buyer wanted to see something more in detail. The truck is located in central IL. Come look at the truck in person. Buyer is responsible for lining up transportation. I can meet with a shipper for drop off, or better yet, buyer can pick it up them self. I have driven this truck to Carlisle, PA and back without problems. The coldest temperature I have driven it in was -27 degrees Fahrenheit, the truck has been extremely reliable, a person could drive it anywhere. Bank cashiers check, money order, or cash payment required. Payment in full within 7 days of end of auction. Thanks for considering, and good luck!
